I am a conservative, and I enjoyed the show MASH, recognizing all along how blatantly liberal it was. I can seperate entertainment from reality. Can't you?

Meaning no disrespect, but you all missed the point of the series, the movie before it and the book it was based on. Which was war is ludicrous. And Suicide is Painless referred to the fact that there were 2 ways to leave Korea get blown up, shot full of holes and be killed or worse maimed for the rest of your life or suicide. Which can be quite painless. I don't condone suicide. However I spent some time in combat and in a combat area so I understand the sentiment. This is my take on it anyway!

To me the song refers to not allowing the inevitable to occur. To die young, strong, and free is better than the alternative.

When I was young, we did not have as good a variety of t.v. programming as do today. MASH was the first series to give me a true perspective on the human suffering endured during war, not just of the combatants but of the locals as well as those who dutifully tended the wounded and dying. It was a well produced program and had a tremendous impact on all t.v. medical type programs that followed. Working closely with consultants and historians, the writers and directors took great care to be historically and medically accurate. MASH made us both laugh and cry in the same half hour.
I am sure there are some war-protesting, mother-loving, tree-hugging, left-wing-loonies and competition ballroom dance fans who liked the show as well.

M*A*S*H was just one of the few rare well written TV shows that dynamically explored the complex facets of each characters lives during a horrific war at an even terrifying post in that battle.

Throughout the series, we were touched by how each character managed to hold onto their sanity during such stressful situations; we shared their joys and laughs....their sorrows and pains.

I never heard the lyrics to "Suicide Is Painless", which I heard the show's 14 year old son wrote, but the instrumental version was just right for M*A*S*H.

If the psycho stalker Jonas followers could stop posting hundreds of pointless questions lower back and lower back then sure, it may stop. no person yet psychos care what time they bypass to mattress, what shampoo they use, what their shoe length is, this is getting very previous. this is unhappy that maximum folk different than the teenie bopper followers (no offense, i exchange into additionally as quickly as a teenager with crushes on celebs, believe me you too will develop out of it) be responsive to something on the subject of the Jonas Brothers yet they arrive right here and learn each attainable piece of information with the aid of fact of each and all the stupid questions published.

I think anytime the Tv show lasts longer than the war, you've got a problem. It started off Ok. But got preachy by season 5. By then most realised, "Hot lips" wasn't hot and turned on Charlies Angels instead......

I hated the tv show, but loved the movie.

The lyrics were disassociated from the tv show.
Now I'm trying to remember them all.....can't

Suicide is painless,
It brings on many changes
But you can take or leave it, if you please.

The only way to win is cheat
????
?????
One day the winning card I'll keep
because that's the only painless feat.

arrggghhh see what you started?

Until alda began his anti-military preaching, which was the 3rd season, I think, I loved it. The whole concept of the show was to mock vietnam, you know the place were liberals and the media live, so the theme song means little to me.
