Kinda depends on a lot of things, of course, like whether you want something unique to Pittsburgh or a national chain (like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse), or a good view of the golden triangle at night (like from Mt. Washington). It's been some time since living there, but Wholey's (Strip District) was known for its fish sandwiches. I also liked the 1902 Tavern (really good clam chowder). The Grand Concourse at Station Square is beautiful with its elegant architecture (although I usually economized by having a pint and appetizers at the adjacent Gandy Dancer bar). The Common Plea is good, too. Pittsburgh is a nice town; I hope you enjoy the visit.

Everyone always love Pimanti Brothers...it's a classic Pittsburgh place, nothing incredibly fancy, but delicious.

Try the Strip District (not what you think) or Carson Street.

You can also try Max and Erma's in the city (can't remember where), or if you can venture out around Robinson Towne Center, go to Quaker Steak and Lube - they have award-winning wings!
