Check out volunteermatch.org. You can find lots of interesting volunteer opportunities in Detroit.

I volunteered at a hospital near me and at AMVETs when I was in high school. It's hard to say what volunteer positions are best as volunteer work is always excellent to have. It builds character and can also show others that you're a well rounded person.
Good luck!

Go the Volunteers Match online - you can type in your zip code and find plenty of things to do around the area of Detroit and its suburbs. Also check out local hospitals and nursing homes.

Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities are a few places you could volunteer. Check them out in the phone book for your area.

I volunteer for this organization. In addition to helping ecologists study, and ulitmately protect, the environment, it's interesting, educational, and lots of fun. I bet there is a similar organization in your area. I've read there are such groups around the country.

I would suggest volunteering at your closest nursing home. There is such a need for caring individuals to work with our elderly population and you get rewards just by seeing that you have made someone feel important by just taking the time to listen to them.
