Reading the dictionary probably isn't a good idea (no possibility of significant retention) If you're really serious about building vocab, you should read literature. You can figure out most of the new words through context.

I didn't think you needed a high vocabulary to rap.
Maybe you should just hang out at the local skate park/ wherever it is that kids hang out and listen to the way they speak.

I wouldn't worry about building you vocabulary. I would suspect you would have to actually decrease your vocabulary to be a rapper.
