I had a friend who weighed 295 pounds at age 24, due to overeating habits. She joined Overeaters Anonymous, got her weight down to 132 pounds. She moved out of town, and when I saw her again three years later, she had kept off all the weight. She's the only person I've ever known who has succeeded in losing a large amount of weight. She did it with determination and strict adherence to the rules of OA. She told me that a person can't compromise on weight loss - you're either committed to it, or you're not.

I keep a food journal and record the calories of all the food I eat. I also keep another to record how I feel (I have emotional eating issues). Usually by time I have written about what is bothering me, I can better control the desire to nibble (or at least make a better choice). And to make sure I am losing weight, I have a formula that I update after every five pounds of weight loss ---my current weight times10 (for the number of calories I need, as a woman, if I wanted to maintain my weight) then I subtract 500 (3500 calories in 1 pound, so reducing 500 a day means 1 pound a week, lost). As example, 200 lbs x10 = 2000 calories, 2000 - 500 = 1500, so my per day calorie count is 1500, until I reach 195 lbs. In addition, I also walk everywhere (which results in another pound a week). This way I am losing a nice steady amount, without having to make any big or crazy changes that are impossible to stick to. It seems to be working - I've lost 120 lbs so far. Good luck!!

It's not easy....... Eat healthy.... stay away from pasta, bread, starch (potatoes) . . .If you do have pasta/bread, make sure it's whole grain and eat it sparingly. . . Basically... I eat Chicken, pork chops, (both grilled only) and salads. . . Push the veggies, and natural fruit. What really works good on the "sweat tooth" is a good fruit smoothie...... Mix fresh fruits with a few ice cubes up in the blender and enjoy those sweat natural, healthy desserts.

Deffinately exercise...... even walking 30 minutes a day can help if done at a high pace speed walk. . . Try to pick up yoga or pilates. . . I personally like TieBo. as it gives a good cardio workout.

I've been doing all this for the last 4 months and lost about 35 pounds so far..... It works, just need to be diligent!

Well I'm what you would consider obese, I'm 23 5'8 and I weigh 235lbs, so far I've lost 35lbs, has not been easy, I drink about a gallon of water a day, try to exercise (Pilate's), I eat more vegetables, and fruit, and eating less meat. This is one issues on my mind, the government say it the peoples fault, we are all so over weight, I say blame the government and the food company's, do you know how many hormone they put in cow so they can make all that milk? And the government allows it, therefore lots of things that the government allows that are not good for us, like smoking, and alcohol, wake up people I say its time we take a stand!

hi, I'm assuming that you might be obese? I used to be on that line between obesity and over-weight and I thought to myself, what is better living longer, feeling better about myself and being able to go find clothes that aren't always tight, or eating my self to death, always feeling horrible about myself, and feeling like every thing I wore was too tight. Then I decided to change my life style, so I started working out eating right and I turned into a whole different person. Now clothes are loose on me, I've lost around 35 pounds. And I'm starting to feel better about myself and my apperance:) If you ever need some help with losing weight, you can contact me at my email address, and I can give you some tips:) Hope this helps.

I have been up and down my entire life. Now I really have to make an effort every day to do some sort of exercise. I love the walking tapes they have. fast, easy, affordable. I drink a lot of protein shakes, believe it or not they really fill you up. I think it;s the protein. I went to walmart just bought one off the shelf. I used it for a week. Liquid only diet and I lost 13 pounds in one week. I hope it helps. But science is that calories in need to be less then calories out to lose weight. There is no magic only will power and determination. Good luck

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of weight loss surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her revision surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

Control your portion sizes, cut down on meat and dairy products and increase vegetables, always buy diet products if they're available, and if they're not, consider not eating that product. Stop drinking pop (soda/coke), and start drinking water, or drink diet pop instead. Exercise more-- start off just a little bit every other day and increase it at whatever rate you're comfortable with.

"if you are obese it means that you must also take massive turds, go take a good dump and lose weight...you fatty"--
Translation for this crap above:
If I write dumb things like this it means I have no brains (or massive turds for brains) I need to go back to school and learn how to communicate effectively..because I am a shallow, self-centered dummy who picks on innocent people who are being sincere when asking for help. God have mercy on the future of this planet with clowns like this one running around.
