Well, the first is half-true, the second part is not.
Yes, in some ways the government did allow 9/11 to happen. But I don't think that we're on the same page as far as HOW. Here are some facts:
1) 9/11 COULD have been prevented...if terrorism had been quashed at the beginning, in 1979.
2) It could also have been prevented if Osama bin Ladin had been captured during the 90s, when he was offerred to us.
3) Bush could have stopped it by shutting down all inbound and outbound flights in the US, shutting down the railroads, closing down all highways and freeways, and declaring martial law and a national curfew until the people organizing the act could be found. That's not too feasible though, is it? He never could have done so without Congress's approval, and in order to prevent a panic, he would not be able to inform the people as to why all of this was being done. But actually, there would have been a panic anyway.
President Bush was given a report stating that an attack was imminent. However, it did not state when, where, or how the attack was going to occur, or WHO was planning the attack. He knew that Osama bin Ladin himself was not in the country, so he obviously had no idea who was going to perpetrate the act.
It was NOT an inside job for many reasons. The guy who talked about the tinfoil hats said it all.

Well obviously you are not getting many intelligent answers so far. It was an inside job from the standpoint that the hijackers were living here in their respective communities and mixing with the areas and people where they lived. They were doing the same type of tactics the CIA and KGB and MI5 do. And many Americans had befriended them for months, or even a year and a half for at least two of them. But there is no conspiracy from the standpoint of our government looking the other way and letting it happen to profit from it. They did the profiteering after-wards. They were just stupid and lazy to put it simply. And yes we did let it happen. But as you see the alternative is what we face now. So is it really better? Are we safer? No we are not, and we are not so well liked anymore either, also look at our economy. I was a member of the U. S. Army until I was Honorably Discharged in March of 1999. I didn't like Clinton much, but he valued American lives and the stupid useless deaths of American Troops. He also tried to warn the Bush Administration that they were watching for the very thing that happened on 9-11. He was ignored. But as for letting it happen I feel guilty about that because that was one reason I served; to protect all Americans whether they deserve it, or appreciate it, or even know I was doing it. So I think we all failed in stopping it. We all share the guilt. However I honestly don't know if we could stop it if they really intended to do it (just like they did when it happened) regardless of how ready we are. I served. I live with the pain of scars of the mistakes made. But at least some of us were trying for all of us.

Because it is not true? We did have lax security policies in place for airlines, etc..but there had not been an attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor....it stands to reason that the policies were what they were...If there was a "suspect" item in a bag..it was allowed to board as long as the passenger it belonged to did. Who would have thought there would be someone willing to give their life in the way those 19 men did? But if you are going to blame the current administration..it will serve you well to remember that Bush was only in office for 7 months before 9/11, while Clinton was in office for 8 years.. No way do I believe that any government official, whether Democrat or Republican knew something and deliberately disregarded information that would harm Americans for political gain....Have you read the 9-11 report?

I have been a Bush supporter for some time now but I am not stupid. The more I have read and from what I know of US government history, my loyalty to this administration is withering as I realize the 9/11 events could have been nothing other than deliberately planned by our own government. It is not hard to believe at all.

I'll use a true example to give you my opinion about why it is so hard to believe.....
A week or so after 9/11, when the shock was starting to wear off, I started to think that it just didn't make sense. This was before the conspiracy theories...before I was even remotely involved in politics....before I watched the news....I hadn't read anything on the internet or talked to anyone that had a theory about what happened. It just wasn't adding up in my head. I had this feeling of dread in my stomach like something wasn't right....I didn't know what wasn't right....or why I felt that way. I couldn't get it off of my mind though.
One night I brought it up to my husband. I asked him if he thought the government was involved - or if he thought that maybe George Bush knew about it. There was something about Bush's reaction that made me start to think this way. I still to this day can't pinpoint exactly what it was.....but I kept thinking he's really just not smart enough, or emotionally mature enough to sit there like that after such a horrible thing happened. It just seemed to me that he didn't have it in him to remain calm if he had been surprised by it.
(anyway...I've since learned a lot of facts, many of which have already been mentioned, that strengthened my belief. I would never feel confident with only my feelings about Bush's reaction...but I won't go into all that....back to the point...)
My husband's reaction was very emotional and very strong. He was angry at me for even thinking such a thing. He just couldn't bring himself to believe that our government would sacrifice so many lives. His reaction made me think of a child that has been betrayed by a parent...the person that is supposed to protect them.
I think people have a hard time believing it because they place so much faith and trust in their government. They believe that the government is there to protect them, and look out for them. It's very hard to accept such betrayal - and the feelings of helplessness that come with that acceptance.
I find it harder to accept the notion that the FBI, CIA, and other government agencies are incompetent enough to have missed the warning signs of such a plan. I find this more frightening....and it leaves me feeling more vulnerable.

Most people cannot imagine the lengths the ruling elites will go to, to increase their power, money, and control.
Dubya's puppeteers policies are not new :-
“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Hermann Göring(Nazi) 1946 Nuremberg Trials
The US. Government has lied about many wars. The increase of troops in Vietnam was based on an attack in the Tonkin Gulf that never happened. Some say that Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor and let it happen to get support to join World War Two. The Spanish-American War (Remember the Maine!) was also based on a hoax.
Not to mention the numerous covert wars that they lied about. Iran-Contra, the overthrow of Mossadegh in Iran, Allende in Chile, Arbenz in Guatemala. Also the war in Panama, against someone who was on the payroll of the CIA. Cuba as well. The Bay of Pigs invasion was supported by the CIA, and the people who invaded were trained by the CIA in Guatemala.
As for 9/11 this is the origin of the plan:-
"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order."
David Rockefeller: Statement to the Untied Nations Business Council in September 1994
"For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with other around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefellers memoirs (2002)
and this is what Dubya's puppeteers had to say in 2000;-
"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor"
Project for the New American Century (2000)
Which brings into question 9/11/(2001), which was never investigated properly, and has been hijacked in order to enact Dubya's agenda and the subsequent illegitimate wars.

Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtV1uxYnu0w&search=loose%20change%202nd%20edition
Decide for yourselves people ;)
I do agree with Dubya on one thing:-
"I think one way for us to end up being viewed as the ugly American is for us to go around the world saying, "We do it this way. So should you."
"I think the United States must be humble and must be proud and confident of our values, but humble in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course."
George W. Bush - 2nd presidential debate Oct 11th 2000

Ok, fine, lets say 9/11 was an "inside job." Then I hereby declare that the 1993 WTC bombing was an inside job as well as the 2000 USS Cole bombing, as well as all of the other terror attacks that happened under Clinton's watch.

Well, first because all the proponents of the theory have tinfoil hats on.
Second, bin Laden and the Taliban admitted doing it.
Third, the conspirators would number in the thousands and be in both parties here and many other countries including the countries where the hijackers came from.
Fourth, Americans wouldn't do that sort of thing even if it was possible.
Fifth, did I mention the tinfoil hats?

To many people would of been involved and by now someone would of come forward .
THATS the only reason i do not believe the conspiricy theory's.YOU would need a group of moraly banckrupt people with no regard for human life to pull it off .
THERE is no such group of people in the world who could do this without having a twinge of conscience and come forward to get it off there chest by now.
To date no such rumor of an insider has leaked and so no truth to it.
