Babies aren't lazy at all.
Babies walk/crawl/speak/grow teeth and potty train at different intervals. Some sooner some later. It isn't a choice they are making it's their rate of development.
Some will walk at 8 months but not speak until 15 months or the other way around. I have two nephews that are the same age.
1 walked at 9 months and the other dragged his legs behind him until he walked at 15 months. Both are at the same intelligence level (they are 22 now) and did virtually the same in school and life.
Some babies will never crawl, they will scoot on their behinds or drag their legs. Some will even roll around like a sausage. All of these are acceptable. He'll walk and do everything else eventually as he develops, don't worry and whatever you do, DON"T PUSH HIM. He doesn't have a choice in this matter and pushing him will cause larger problems in his development including malformation of leg growth.
I have two children 11 and 7. They had the same parents and the same upbringing but they developed very differently.
Give him time and make sure he gets his regular doctor visits so that your pediatrician can stay on top of his progress. Those charts they make up are only average guidelines, every child is different.

Well, you don't have to be worried for the moment. My baby boy walked alone at his fourteen months. He also was slow crawling, he did moved with his tummy down (like a reptile) so fast.
Babies are not equal. Give him some time. Put him between the sofa and a coffee table, so he can do small steps between them. Every two days move apart the coffee table, so he is forced to walk a little bit more each time to reach the sofa.
This is a good exercise, I learned it from a therapist for disable children.

Average age for walking is 9-17 months, so he's not late. And it is perfectly normal for some babies to skip crawling. He's probably just developing according to his own schedule. If his pediatrician isn't worried, then just give it more time. If you *don't* trust his doctor, then ask for a referral to a specialist in development, but unless there is another problem that you haven't mentioned, she/he will just tell you the same thing.

It sounds like your pediatrician isn't too worried about it. If he isn't worried I wouldn't be too worried either. I know it's really hard to stay out of the competitions that other parents get into when they gather at parks. Parents seem to start comparing what their little ones have done and how soon they started it. Think of the advantages. Your son is still basically in the same place he was went you set him down to go to the restroom. You don't have to chase him all over the store because he's screamed to get out of the shopping cart. Your son will be walking soon.

Yes..I agree with the above poster...our cats taught my daughter to crawl. She took off after them!
But there are ALOT of toys on the market that are meant to motivate babies to crawl. I just saw a Giggle Monkey that walks away from baby and giggles. It is really cute!
I have had 4 kids and they all developed differently. Mostly crawling at about 10 months and walking at 14 months. But that varied.

Give him a few more months before you start to worry too much. . sometimes baby can be stubborn and not want to do anything. If he is delayed in learning how to sit up and crawl especially at this age, it would probably be best to have some tests run to make sure there aren't any problems. . He should at least be sitting up unsupported and crawling by now.

All children develop in their own time. They experts agree that if your baby isnt walking by the time he is 18 months then consult your paediatrition. And another good thing you could do is get rid of the walker, is slows children down and doesnt help them learn anything. There is a reason why they are banned and illegal to import in canada ( which is where I am ).

My son was a late walker too, he didn't walk until he was around 15 months old. Don't sweat it too much. It doesn't seem as though the pediatrician is concerned about it. Check out this link, there's some good info for you about developmental milestones and when to be concerned:

If he is not crawling on his own and he is one then I would think thats not a good sign but as far as him walking not all babies walk by the time they are 1 yearld. My daughter was 6 months when she started to crawl and 14 months when she started to walk.
~P.S. You son shouldn't be to tall for his walker because they adjust to different heights.

If the Dr. already checked him out then let him develop at his own pace. My son not only has a big head but was heavy. So he walked after 12 mos. The doctor said the same thing.
