i just finished THE KITE RUNNER, and I thought it was brilliant. Major things that happen are unexpected....it was so realistic and stinging at times...but it isn't, like Amir said, like Hindi movies or movies at all....i loved the book and i thought it was so good....is there any books you could recommend me? something as good or almost as good as The Kite Runner? thank you :)

I liked that book, it really got me into historical fiction. I haven't found anything as good... but I'm currently reading "The Other Bolelyn Sister" and I'll let you know.
Other books I read after Kite Runner
Life of Pi
Time Traveler's Wife
My Sister's Keeper
Dogs of Babel
The Alchemist
Five People You Meet In Heaven

To keep in the mideast setting there's "Come Back to Afganistan" by Said Hyder Akbar. Interesting and different, but nonfiction.

I also really liked "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathon Safran Foer. That's the book we read in my bookclub following "The Kite Runner".

Petcreatures7 has good suggestions too. I loved the Life of Pi. I listened to it on my IPod and it was great in audio format. I wasn't a big fan of the Time Traveler's Wife. I think I'm the only one though.

i really recommend you paulo coelho's & mitch albom's books. elo cari sendiri judul-judulnya di internet. they're both terrific writers. mitch albom's are very realistic and it will make you rethink about how you lead your life. whereas, paulo coelho's style is very kooky, eccentric but unbelievably enjoyable to read. selamat membaca...
