I've tried numerous times to remedy this, but to no avail .Can someone please help me ??!!

Go to Options in your e mail (top right on inbox) and General Preferences and change your outgoing name.

Assuming you are talking about Yahoo IM... At the top from the messenger menu, choose "My Contact Detales" and edit your name info.
Maybe the best thing to do is open a new Yahoo account and don't give that info in the first place. Use a made up name and a new handle. Anyone that needs your real name should know it anyway

which contacts are you talking about?
For me, I don't have anybody on my contact list that I mistrust so much that I don't want them to know who I am.
