Too many cultures in Developed and Developing nations alike that are cutthroat, greedy, selfish, and downright barbaric to their own people....

You are going to have a *lot* of very bitter angry people in the world who genuinely and rationally believe that they have *no* place in society or hope for the future, when you have nearly *every* political system in place and *every* so-called mainstream religion ALIKE worldwide saying "It's ok to treat your poor and your problem citizens like roadkill." Which in some parts of the world can be mis-construed to mean the bottom 80% of the population in terms of wealth...

Yeah. And we know who is doing all of this, and why. Big Oil. Big Banking. Big Media. Because they saw ordinary people get rich *quick* under the New Economy that got *murdered* along with the hopes and dreams of *millions* on 9-11.....they saw the "peons" get money and they got scared of the shadow of their own incompetence....

So yeah, *now* we have everybody at each other's throats, poor and getting poorer, desperate...and Big Business FatCats are laughing it up, more than happy to play along and goad the Fundies and Fanatics into bringing about their precious widdle "End of Days."

Happy now? YOU let Pinky and the Brain get elected to the highest office in America, TWICE. YOU pay bad money after good at the pump for *gasoline* knowing damn full and well that for every penny Big Oil Gets, OSAMA GETS A DOLLAR. YOUR Society has seen fit to tell folks like me, poor, down and out, or just not connected with the *right* back-stabbers and brown-nosers, that we have no place in society, YOUR society.

YOU were the ones applauding Laura Bush for defending her Precious Royal Dictatorness's Vacation, by saying of the Super Dome in New Orleans, five days in, five days after Hurricane Katrina left a WHOLE CITY to Rot and Ruin, what was that again?

""Well, they're poor people, this is likely better than what they're used to..."

Only when you read that you substitute "used to" for "Deserve" each and every time in spite of people starving and dying of heat stroke in their own *feces*.

Happy now? Are you rightwad, greedhead yuppie punk bastids happy now? Civilization is dead. You killed the 21st century. HAPPY NOW??

There really isn't much more violence today than compared to the last few thousand years. The difference is media coverage. Where at one time small crimes and violence were only heard about in local communities, in the modern world violence is heard about that takes place anywhere in the country or world. The world really is getting better it just doesn't seem so due the news.

It all started with media. Television may have been the catalyst.
During the Korean War (kids who were not raised on TV) the Army did studies on combat psychology. In first encounters with enemy troops a condition was measured called "balking factor" . This factor is a hesitation factor when pulling the trigger on the enemy. That factor during the Korean War was 40%. In other words new soldiers hesitated 40% of the time when first killing another human being. By the time the Vietnam War had arrived (kids raised on TV)the same studies had shown that the factor had dropped to 5%. The violence in America has increased by 2000% since 1960(population adjusted), I would bet it has increased much more than that since 1940.

Simple. It's an over-crowded world with dwindling resources. There's a lot of competition for everything and competition frequently turns violent. If you want another factor, there's revenge that leads to more revenge and so on and on. Crowding, competition, revenge. Smells like a recipe for violence to me. Every other reason can easily grow out of this mixture. Intolerance,, fear, hatred, greed, defensiveness and paranoia grow easily in a crowded, competitive atmosphere. The most violent parts of the world also happen to be the world's most crowded places, but some crowded places avoid some violence by having a sense of national unity. If you can feel that the people around you are your neighbors, you can dampen your violent urges somewhat, but crowding without unity is like a bunch of time bombs waiting to explode.

Why do I think that there is too much violence in the world? My answer would be the following,Kids nowadays have to much freedom on their hands, and no supervision from their parents. Both parents have to work to make ends meet and they come home tired and stressed out from their work, if the kids want to have a conversation with them or there is a problem at school or with somebody, sometimes they are brushed aside or the mother tells them to go and talk to their dad. So kids just give up.

It's already been said, but is worth repeating. the world has been violent throughout recorded history. Pick any era and i can point to savagely violent acts on par with anything done today. Even societies that we regard as great is loaded with tales of brutality. The Romans threw people to be torn apart by animals for entertainment. Europe was in a perpetual state of war for most of its history. We are no more violent. We just have more channels to watch it on.

Because there are lots of people grouped together in towns and cities, and some of the people are looking to dominate other people through harm. There are also some psychological and childhood background issues associated with violence.

Humans have been very violent from prehistoric times. So today's violence is just a continuation of our basic nature. That's why we need the presence of police in our society.

People do not communicate; do not ask questions.
So the "not knowing", creates fear. Fear turns into hate
and hate propetuates violence and intolerance.

If people just inquired more initally from eachother without worring or having the fear of questioning, the world would be a safer, peaceful and more tolerant place.
