Why would you want to fit in with a bunch of slobs? About the only way to remain true to yourself and your professionalism is to ask them, when they are rude enough to remark, to please judge you based on your character and your ability to do your job, as they are asking you to do. Find some common ground and give them time. Hopefully, there are others there who will become inspired or secretly wish to improve their appearance. What ever you do, don't cave in to the slop appearance. It will destroy your spirit.

There is definitly nothing wrong with over dressing. You might have to endure some comments from coworkers, but if they want to look like slobs then let them.
Even in a very casual office environment some things are inappropriate, like holes in your clothes. That disgusts me and I would make a comment to her that its innapropriate.
I applaud your sense of professionalism. ITs something that has disappeared from the workplace.

I think you should continue to dress as you do. I hate going into an office where it looks as if the staff just came from a baseball game or the beach. I wish we could have more professional dress and behavior in the workplace.

It doesn't sound to me like you are overdressing. I think dressing all raggedy for work just isn't right. Heck, I dress cute, do my hair, and put on makeup every day just to hang around home. I think it's bad for your self-esteem and self-worth not to dress decently, especially when you interact with other people. Yes, it is okay to dress nicely for work. Don't worry about fitting in. The only person you have to please at work is your boss--it's not a personality contest among your coworkers. Just smile when someone comments. You don't have to explain yourself.

It's ALWAYS better to overdress than to underdress. In your case, it sounds like you could dress down a bit, and still be the best-dressed at your job.....don't worry about raising the bar. If those slobs don't like it, they can patch the holes in their pants.

Keep dressing nice and walk around like you own the place.
People might not LIKE you but they will FEAR you and you will likely get a promotion and be able to get away with all sorts of odd behaviour.

Yeah most people generaly want to fit in, and prolly isnt a bad idea, but you should wear what you want to wear, and not worry about others opinions.

Dress the way you want. Maybe you will bring every one else up a step or two. LOOK GOOD! FEEL GOOD about yourself.
