No. Often times I feel cloistered and claustrophobic, and generally cynical.
I feel closer to the Creator when I'm amidst the creation.
"Do you better understand Raphael when you're looking directly at one of his works in a museum?"
No, of course not - there's too much pressure there, too much feigned artistic superiority and pretension - the enviornment is aloof and somehow clinical. Maybe it's the whitewashed walls. I would personally, find a better understanding of Raphael were I to spend time with him in his studio, in HIS element, breathing the same air he expelled, observing his muses, reading his writings and notes, watching him work.
To me it's the same with g/God and the 'church' (temple, sanctuary, etc)
Putting g/God on display, setting aside one day a week to "commune" or worship, just to check it off your spiritual to do list is pathetic, if done generically and out of duty.
Don't get me wrong, it can be beautiful, if done out of virtue.
I personally though, feel closer to God when I'm in nature - camping, hiking, mountain climbing etc; or painting and doing photography. Aside from Truth, God is first and foremost to me, an Artist, and created this expanse. It is only fitting and much more natural to experience God with God's creation, not in some forced man made box on Sunday mornings.

Not necessarily. It's just a building, a place. It's much more about the worship experience there.
I've been to churches where the message was watered down, the Scripture reading monotone and the some of the others were "just there."
I've been to small gatherings that radiated with His presence. It's really about finding the place where you "fit in" but also are challenged to grow in your walk with God.
I personally liked the services we had a camp that were held above the lake at sunrise and sunset. It was incredible.

If you exist, you are in GOD's house. If you are in a church or synagogue or temple or prayer hall or mosque, you are in a house of man.
