Cebu is a wonderful place to visit. There are some great beaches on Mactan Island, some enormous malls in Cebu City for shopping, and historical monuments such as Magellan's Cross. If you have extra time on your hands, you can reach Bohol by high speed ferry (about 2 hours, and very cheap). The Chocolate Hills are on Bohol and they are one of the most interesting attractions in the Philippines.

Go to the beaches in Mactan. They're the nearest if you'll be staying in Cebu City. If you like, you can go to Malapascua Island or Bantayan Island up north. They're not so crowded. Get into all sorts of water sports. You can go to Moalboal in the south for scuba diving. There are several eateries called sutukil near the Mactan Shrine. They serve fresh seafood and you can choose how they're cooked - sugba (broiled), tuwa (in broth) or kilaw (steeped in vinegar). Cebu is famous for dried mangoes - make sure to check them out. If you're from the Philippines, most likely you've eaten dried fish so you might want to buy some danggit. Bohol is just nearby. You can board a fastcraft and be there in an hour. Check out the tarsier (smallest monkey in the world), the Chocolate Hills, peanut kisses and more beaches. Bohol has very good diving sites too.

Cebu Province is one of the most developed provinces in the country and the main center of commerce, trade, education and industry in the central and southern parts of the archipelago. It has five-star hotels, casinos, white sand beaches, world-class golf courses, convention centers, and shopping malls. The UK-based Condenast Travellers Magazine named Cebu the 8th best Asian-Pacific island destination in 2005, and 7th in 2004.

Its capital is Cebu City, the oldest city in the country, which forms part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area together with 4 neighboring cities Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, Danao City and 8 other municipalities. Cebu is served by Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Mactan Island, thirty minutes drive from downtown Cebu City.

the beaches in cebu are great and you can do alot of shopping. there are also good places to go diving or just relax. At night you can go to the highest spot in cebu, its very beautiful, you can see the entire city, and there are fancy restaurants there where you can have a good dinner and enjoy the view.

Take your girlfriend and her mother over to the Shangri La Hotel on Mactan Island to their outdoor restaurant at the end of the jetty if you want to score some points with her mother ;)

(Mactan Island is where Cebu International Airport is located in case your wondering)

Check in at the MARIBAGO BLUEWATER BEACH RESORT in Mactan. Its the best resort there and the staff are very very corteous. They have superb rooms as well. You can contact them at 632.887.1348.

If you want a more private resort, try SUMILON BLUEWATER ISLAND RESORT. Its a separate island at the tip of Oslob Cebu. Its like Aman Pulo, but not as expensive and you dont need a chartered plane. But its very private and there are no locals in the island! Good for honeymooners and those who want to escape the stress of the city. You may book reservations in the same number above.

Visit Bohol or Mactan Island. Great beaches to go kayaking, boating, or snorkeling. The resorts are nice, and the one I stayed at had excellent food. Other than that, not much one can do when traveling with a girlfriend and mother, unless they don't mind dancing and drinking at club Temptation. Oh yeah, shopping. There's always shopping.
