It's because someone told George W. Bush and friends long ago that we saved France during WW2. He longs to be a saviour because he is just the opposite so he likes to remind people of that.
Not all Americans hate the French, many of us LOVE the French. I love French wine, French food, the language, the music, the art......I could go on and on.
And I appreciate the fact that France doesn't lick George Bush's boots like Tony Blair does because like most Americans, I hate our current government!!!

Americans do not like the French because France has a Government that is prepared to voice what its people think about America dictating how the world should be run.
Would that we had a Governenment and prime minister that would do the same, when we would never have sent our soldiers to Iraq, probably not to Afghanistan and would not support the Israelis in therir slaughter of so many innocents in Lebanon.

Every country is arrogant, every country thinks they are the best, and the rest are rubbish. Just like the religious think that god is only on their side. god can't be on everyone's side. everyone is arrogant and provincial because they have a desire to belong, and will defend what they are a part of. instead of defending the human race as a whole. they're are no rights and wrongs, every country has it's flaws, and within those countries they are defending do they treat their fellow people nicely and with respect. do they crap.
today's problem is universal lack of respect.

They shouldn't be. France bankrolled their revolution. Without France they would not have won the war against the British. The Americans owe their Nation to France

Why the anti-american thing from the French? I think that this long standing ribbing of each other's country should come to and end before the other side does something they can't take back.

Let's see....because France tends to be a big joke and seems to be a country full of cowards. You let the rest of the world do your fighting for you. My uncle died liberating your country because you surrendered without a moments hesitation. You expect support, you expect help but you absolutely refuse to do it for anybody else unless you get paid for it. Perhaps you should consider changing the name of the entire country to "Pigalee."

I've been to france several times since the first time in 1983. Every time I go it's the same thing - snooty people who don't want to talk to you or help or basically act human.
On top of that, their wine is AWFUL, and they think it is la-tee-da. I say California wines are much better.
And frankly, they can keep their cheese too.

Not only are the French rude to tourists, but the leadership of France is wishy-washy. We can't count on their support for anything. But when they're in a jam, they'll call on the US for help. They always do.
