Not in the heights, they pay double taxes because they are a city within a city so they pay heights taxes, sa taxes, bexar county taxes, neisd taxes and heights isd taxes.

Depends on how much you want to spend and how new a home you want. San ANtonio has historic areas and newer areas. The newest is the Stone Oak area. I like Garden Ridge, but I live near the airport because it is convenient and less pricey yet lots of professionals live in this area and good schools.

The tax rate is based on the square footage of your house. Its a catch 22 here...you can buy a huge 3000-3500 square ft home at a decent price but you will have a higher property tax. I live in Guadalupe county which is outside San Antonio city limits, therefore we dont have to pay San Antonio city taxes. We are still only 20 miles from the city. Check with a realtor to make sure you are outside city limits and stay away from most of Bexar county(higher taxes). Good luck and I hope this helps!

We are having a home built in the Dominion and apparently our taxes are going to be about $25,000 per year on the house.

We are moving to San Antonio from California and the house itself is so much less than what we could have bought it for in California. Our house in Texas is costing us less than half of what we sold our California home for, and the Texas house is about 2000 square feet bigger than the California house we just sold. Granted there are no state income taxes, so they have to stick it to you somewhere. Quite honestly, we would rather be paying income taxes!
