I was a first grader in 96-97 and I asked to get this present for my birthday. It was a playset that somehow involved the Statue of Liberty. You could pull down part of her face and there would be like some sort of gun inside. It involved action figures smaller than your average 3-3/4 inch G.I. Joe. It was a multi-level set. I believe it could have been made by Hasbro, Kenner, Mattel, or one of the other big name toy companies. I'm usually good about remembering my toys but I played with it so little (it was somewhat fragile and got destroyed). So all I have is the retractable piece of Lady Liberty's face. Sorry about the little details, I was only about 7 or 8 when this toy came out...

I found another piece of the toy...it's a TV lookalike thing, and it has "Wanted Road Maniax" on the back with the names King Chrome, Skidz, Scarface, and Abcess.

Ok, from the information I can find, it appears that the items you were referring to in the additional details comes from a line of Hot Wheels produced around that time. Each of those figures is from the 1995 line entitled "Road War Vehicles Maniax Vehicles." However, upon further examination, I found no information linking this to a statue of liberty playset. Also the X-men playset mentioned by others does not quite fit the time line for 1996-1997, as the movie was not out by then. I hope this provides a lead so that you can find out some more info on it.
