Remember Mr. Mike (he was a cassette player and microphone toy) from the original Toy Story? That was my first ever 'music-playing device' as a kid, and man did I love that thing. The microphone could either be your normal voice or in a garbelled alien/robotic-sounding voice. It was so cool! (Hey I was young) I still have it in my closet, but I don't think it works anymore.

Um, to be honest, it was a Rugrats-themed one. With Reptar on it. LOL, but I was like four. And I think it was a tape player, but it might not have been. I've had three walkmans since that and now I have an iPod.

But yeah, first music playing device was a Rugrats tape player. LOL.
