From what I heard the only reason the Sox are going after him is to block the Tigers from getting him. So bacislly they would just turn around and trade him to another team....mostly likely a national league team. Same thing with Carlos Lee.

that would be an extremely foolish trade and heres why.......believe it or not the white sox don't have great prospects. Brian anderson, who has struggled, and Brandon McCarthy are their only grade A prospects if you can even call them that. They would have to give up one or both of them and if only one then they would also have to give up joshua fields, who has hit particularly well at triple A this year. They have some nice throw ins that they could trade that might distract a team like the nationals from asking for both mccarthy and anderson, in casey rogowski, ryan sweeney, and jorge velandia, and their second baseman at triple A who I like Angel Gonzalez. But a guy like rogowski, who is already getting up there for a prospect would instantly be blocked by nick johnson and larry broadway--- another prospect who needs to get to the major league level and produce if he wants a career. So hopefully the sox don't make their system empty---trust me it's not worth it---I've witnessed dan duquette deplete the red sox for years and years until theo epstein came in and acted like a real general manager should. also kenny williams gives up too much in deals, and if he does so this time it may actually come back and bite him finally. The white sox already have enough offense and defense to make it a repeat. they have big bats (thome, konerko, dye, crede), and nice role players like iguchi, podsednik, and big armed shortstop juan uribe---who I love. Their pitching is solid 1-5 (trust me vazquez will get going, and so will garland)---and mccarthy can fill in if there is an injury or lack of performance) The only positive I can see from a trade for soriano would be that it would give the white sox a relatively young player (he's 30 but fresh--ala andruw jones), because they need a little youth for the future---but not if it means losing mccarthy and anderson the rocks of the teams future.

Is it a done deal?
Has it happened yet?
No, it hasn't.
I think if Soriano does get traded, he will want to go to a team that will ACTUALLY go to the world series---and we all know that team ISNT the white sox.

He's not going to the White Sox - they won't trade Brandon McCarthy.

Never hurts to have another big bat. Their center fielder isn't all that hot so he'd slot in nicely. They also picked up MacDougal from KC as a reliever so they're bolstering their bullpen too.
They're going to repeat.

This move will almost make them into an instant playoff team if he continues to hit the way that he has in Washington.
