P C World said that McAfee was the best on the market..I've had both and must say I do like McAfee better..Norton's not as user friendly.. but to each his own..McAfee can get to be a pain with the pop-ups but its better then a virus??? Your friend in Tennessee...ROB

I have used them both and Norton is the best ... Norton's offers allot and I had very good luck with it . McAfee let a Virus in my computer and it took Norton's to get it out. Pay for the Norton it is worth every penny..

Avast only supplies removal tools for virus removal. McAfee is a pig to install and has limited features. They charge for helping a buyer to install their program. Norton works well, but it is sluggish it is not easy to install, and Symantec has one of the worst technical support teams in the information technology software business. They are also very hard to contact.
There are net free anti-virus sites but others will be able to fill you in on them.

Dan.

Personally I take the approach of having multiple security applications installed. Such as McAfee, AdAware and Windows Defender. I don't think there is any one suite that is perfect so I try and cover all of the bases I can even though there is a lot of overlap between them all.

System Suite 6 from Vcom. I provides firewal, a/v, anti spyware, and also a whole suite of maintenance and optimization tools - sort of like having an IT department in a box.

A/V and Anti malware uses technology by Trend Micro, and the firewall is technology by Sygate.

Good, powerful stuff.
