Ah, I was just on clomiphene citrate (Clomid) for 3 cycles. I don't know if the mood swings were from the drugs or the emotional rollercoaster I was on anyway (despair to unbelievable hope, and then step-downs with the first two failed attempts combined with other life issues). My biggest thing was hot flashes. I'd be sitting in a chair and all of a sudden I had to shed layers, when only 20 min's prior I'd been cold and had to put them on.
Since my doc was so unhelpful, I did some research. The effectiveness of fertility medications vary from woman to woman depending on her condition. Twins are still only averaging 8-10% (up from about 1-2% naturally), and triplets are "rare". I was terrified of 5 or 6 at once, but I'm a little better now. I'm still too early to tell (8.5 weeks), but I'm not sick, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for one. I *think* overall success rate is around 80%.

I used a variety of fertility drugs and some can cause mood swings. Clomid did not cause any swings for me, but the injections of Humegon we tried later did. Honestly, though, I am not sure if the mood swings (which were not horrible) were also due to the fact that everyone around me was getting pregnant and I was not. Your chances of multiple births is increased, but it depends on which drug route your doctor puts you on. When I was on Clomid, I was only making 2 eggs a month, but on the injections, I was making 14 eggs a month. How long it takes you to get pregnant all depends on why you are needing the drugs in the first place. I kept getting pregnant with the drugs, but miscarrying. This was due to a hormonal problem and not the drugs, so I am sure this will not happen to you. Please talk to your fertility doctor about your concerns and best wishes on your success!!!!

Depends a lot on what you're taking. I've done both Clomid and the injections, and the only thing I can say about what to expect/hope for is that everyone's different. For me (PCOS) the clomid did nothing other than give me unbelievable mood swings (just ask my poor DH), but no ovulation.
With the injections (follistim), I had two different experiences. The first go-around, cycle 1 was cancelled due to ovarian hyperstimulation, but I was able to get PG (singleton) on my second cycle--never noticed much in the way of mood swings. When trying for baby #2, the shots didn't seem to work like they had before, but I was able to get PG later using metformin only (diabetic drug that helps w/PCOS).
If your DR is properly monitoring you, the issue of having a bunch of babies shouldn't be a problem, but it is a very real possibility in some cases.

It all depends on the person. If you are going on Clomid, it gave me horrible mood swings, but I was also on the highest dosage that my doctor would give out (200 mg). You need to let your body get use to the medication, so it could take a few months.
I was on it for 4 months before I first got pregnant but miscarried (due to a thyroid & mild mutation of the enzyme). Now I'm on a combiniation of Thyroid medication, Clomid & Norval (if I'm ovulating) & hopefully that will work. We will see next month.

I did do fertitilization and unfortunately, it did effect my moods tremendously. Almost caused me and husband to get a divorce because of the nasty things that were coming out of my mouth. (which now I feel guilty as all get out for.) Worst thing is...no baby came from it.
However, don't be discouraged. It wouldn't be called fertility treatment if it didn't at least help half the women who used it get pregnant and yes there is a small possibility that you could have multiples...
Keep your head high and your hopes up. Your baby will come when you least expect it...

I had to take Chlomid to get pregnant and I got pregnant in the first month! Basically my cycles were too long, and my doctor said I needed to regulate my cycles to be monthly. Also, I needed to actually be ovulating each month to get pregnant, so I took Prometrium to enduce my period. Then I took Chlomid on days 3-7, and I used and Ovulation monitor to figure out when I ovulated (about a week and a half later). I then waited another 2 weeks to take a PT and it was positive! I'm expecting my baby girl in December! GOOD LUCK!

are you referring to Clomid? It is different for every person, but I got dizzy and nauseated. Yes, I did get a little emotional too =/ but as soon as the five days were up, I was fine (you're only on it for 5 days a month) Good luck to you :) and I am still not sure if I'm pregnant. I'm on my first month. Chances of twins are one in 80
