ok as for the overheating, get something like this http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=75004
as for the games acting funny, part of it is the heat of the laptop, also try updating the video drivers, also turn down some of the settings in the game to make it run smother, you will sacrifice some eyecandy but the game will play better.
One last thing, if you want a gamer pc, you need to get a desktop pc.

If you are worried about it heating up too much, does the fan blow out hot air when it is on? If it is pretty hot, then maybe you should move it so that it gets a little more clean air into the fan.
I'm not sure what would make it lag in games, maybe it is just the game? Do they run straight from a CD? The lag could be due to your processor, memory, video card, or a number of things. If you are sure you have top of line in all these areas, then it is hard to tell. Maybe you could call tech support and ask them quickly about it, they may be able to help you out. I have an XPS also and I remember that when I bought it, there were papers and things that stated how XPS has a faster support number and all that, I'm not sure though, I haven't used it.

look on the stats of your question...its already replied. The photographs chip on the macbook is nice for video enhancing and its additionally lots faster than the Dell XPS. you will get greater carried out in much less time. additionally, the macbook's photographs are alright however the stats tutor that it fairly is greater perfect than the Dell XPS. additionally, you may run domicile windows on a macbook so as meaning two times the utility and two times the gaming!! Macs are sexier, faster and greater perfect designed than a Dell...they have inbuilt iSight digital camera, front Row media utility, faster chips and are far greater good than a Dell... Macs dont crash and dont get ANY viruses. 114,000+ viruses for a dell? not on a Mac! besides, who might choose a crappy Dell in any case? additionally, the place do you think of Dell have been given its stupid media distant theory from? A Mac... Mrs. D(H)ell is thoroughly and completely incorrect. Dell would not have greater suitable preformance than a mac, they nevertheless use middle duo chips....jeez that grew to become into final 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, get with the situations. Macnooks have greater suitable preformance GHZ (MAC -->2.sixteen adversarial to final years, a million.5 <-- Dell) Mac's are greater perfect. Any domicile windows individual that I truthfully have talked to who has owned a Mac for a week, doesnt choose to pass lower back. curiously,Mrs. Dell like maing her existence depressing via countless virus updates, virus scans and diverse crashes........

the lag is from the over heat
don't put ur laptop on a soft surfaces like beds or sofa
put it on a hard surface like ur desk, so that the heat can be dissipated easily
note: u have a monster laptop in ur hand, cool

depending on if you bought the laptop new or used the cooling fan on the processor may not be working properly or your laptop is loaded with dust and dirt...as this will cause your processor to overheat and your system to lag. If not fixed in a reasonable amount of time, your processor will burn up and you'll have to replace it all.

You shouldn't play as much games. Don't leave it on for long periods of time. And just as a precaution, have a fire extinghuser nearby!!! Check your hard drive space. If it is low, you should delete unessacary files or documents.
