My daughter and I are looking for a scary movie for her to watch. I don't want it to be too gory or violent or full of gratutitous sex, but a really good suspense film that wouldn't "scar" her

The Others
Secret Window
Rosemary's Baby
Psycho (The original and the Remake)
The Amityville Horror (Original)
Poltergeist (Original)
Rose Red

Scary, thriller-type movies with no gratuitous gore but good storylines, nothing too full-on. I especially recommend Secret Window! Johnny Depp <3

I would try I know what you did last summer because it isn't too scary. I watched it and I get scared very easily and I didn't really get scared. It is not very gory either. I think this would be a good first one. I would also think of the movie called snoopers. I got scared the first time that I watched it and I don't even remember seeing any blood in it. I don't think that it would even be in the horror section but I got scared in it. It is more of a halloween movie.

It is really very touching to see a mother who fawns so much over her adolscent daughter. However, it is quite likely that the 'innocent abroad' daughter has already been initiated in this what with home tv and videoes.I remember a joke. GRandma had taken her two innocent grands to an art gallery.Looking at a picture of a stork there she said, " Do you know this stork brought both of you to us?" The naughty girls exchanged significant glances and whispered," Grandma does not know anything in the matter Shall we tell her?" Beware of the little(rather adolscent devil.

try old movies first. unless they were famous for being really gory for their time, they shouldn't be too bad. if u mainly want suspense, i'd go with the original Psycho. it has a pretty cool plotline too! watch it, it may be old but it's a good movie. great music too

try Shaun of the dead, Its a ROMantic ZOMbie COMedy. So something to take her mind off the gory bits which you have to have in a horror flick.
