I'm about to go to college and my mom is being real strict about how I dress and what I do. I dress like a boy now and she wants me to wear girl clothes. She she does this because she dosen't want people to think I am gay. She says people will not like me if they think I am gay and will tease me. I am gay, but she dosen't know. I don't like her trying to change me but, I feel I have to listen to her because I am still living with her until I go to college. What should I do to get her to stop changing the way I am? Should I tell her that I am gay? I will be going to college with my sister who will tell on me in a second if she found out I was gay.

Be yourself at all times... And don't tell your mom about being gay just yet. She is going through an emotional time right now with her baby getting redy to go off to college. I think you should wait a couple of months for her to get used to the fact that you are gone and then inform her of your preference for the same sex.

question, are you living on campus or commuting? If you're living on campus then first stike a deal with your sister. Once that's cleared out, ask yourself what are the possible outcomes if your mom finds out you're gay. College should be a time that you discover what happens in the world. Your mom is right to fear for your potential friends. People can be mean, and simply not be your friend cause you're gay. But you know what, that's life!!! You're not going to be friends with everyone. If your sister cares about you, then she'll let you be yourself and let you tell your mother when you're ready. The other option I have is this; if your sister is so different then you, you'll probably have a different group of friends anyway. Good luck in your endevors. She wants you to wear girl clothes so you will be attractive to some nice boy you might meet in College and not turn off the boys because you look like you might be gay. Her dream is for you to go to college meet a nice, good, man and have children and be happy the rest of your life. It is what all parents want for their daughters.
You`ll break her heart if you tell her your gay. She will pretend to accept and understand but truely she will die inside.
Stop being selfish.
Put on the clothes the woman, that brought you into this world and loves you more than her own life, wants you to wear.
You can take them off later.

O.k. If you are gay that's cool but since you don't want your mom to know you should wear what you want to wear. If you want to wear a guy shirt but it's big on you twist it in the back and secure it with a hair tie. As for pants and stuff wear girls jeans. Every once in a while wear a skirt to make your mom happy. If you always have your hair up let it down sometimes or wear some earrings that way your being yourself while making your mom happy. I think it would be better for u to tell your mom...it shouldnt come from your sister. And it would be better to get it off your chest before college. college is stressful enough without things hanging over your head. I know this first hand because i am a lesbian and i dress boyish too...and my mom was always telling me to fem up. ppl will like you for who you are, and not what you wear...college students are more open, then your mother thinks and trust me they wont judge you on what u are wearing..most wont even judge you for being gay. good luck!!

well...I think you should wait until you go to college...and If your sister finds out about you....that is when you should deal with it because From the way that your mom sounds now I dont think that she will be to happy to find out that you are gay...But she probably already knows anyways....But you she dress how you want to but just keep your business to your self everyone does not have to know who you are dating...When you go to college I am sure you will have more freedom to do what you want....especially if you go to a big college i am sure you wont see your sister every day

I think you should have a heart to heart with your mom and tell her who you are.
Also make sure you remind her of the great aspects of you- your personality and your values.

Tell her that your sexual orientation does not change who you are. (you sound like a good kid; if you didn't care, you would not bother with what she thinks).

Tell her that she is right. That it is very hard being gay and that you need her support now more than ever.

good luck!

and have fun at school!

I think that you should be honest with her and tell her that your gay. And as for your way of dressing, just tell her that people in college are more accepting and that you clothes amke you who you are and that she can't force you to change your style only you can change your style when you want to.

Be honest with yourself and your mom, tell her you are gay. So that way she will stop trying to change you. I am sure she already suspects you are so might as well come out. Good luck!

Wing it. Tell her you need the guy clothes for gym or that they feel more comfortable and just take a few dresses and pairs of stilettos with you for affect. She won't be there 24/7 to tell you what to wear, so stress less, now breathe that's it. :-)
