You don't need another modem.

You should get a router. The router will hook up to your cable modem and then you can hook up your computers to the router via Ethernet cable or via wireless. Ethernet is faster and more reliable if you don't mind running the cable. If you get something like a Linksys WRT54G, then you could do both. A computer in the same room as the modem and router could plug into the router via Ethernet while a computer in another room, with an 802.11g wireless card or USB device could connect via the wireless. It's not super hard. Linksys comes with a pretty nice setup program and decent documentation and if you run into trouble, you could always ask more questions on Yahoo! Answers. If you buy the router from a local shop like a Staples or the like, then you could always return it if you absolutely can't get it working.

Lets see, you will need a "LAN Line" if your cable modem accepts them ( they look like phone jacks, except bigger) then one computer must be able to connect via, "LAN line" "wireless" or "USB" you will have to have your cable modem already installed, and if your wireless, than a "HUB"or "ROUTER' where more than one computer can plug into, and a Ethernet LAN card, (around 15 bucks) or a wireless usb network adapter. all software for any hardware is best to be installed first before the actual part, and you must give time for the whole network to recognize itself (around 5min or less) its easier these days with wireless.

Your best choice is wireless.

Get a Wireless router. However, your Broadband modem may already be wireless. Check with your ISP.

Get a wireless USB receiver.

That's all.

well since its not wireless yes you need either cat5 cat5e or cat6, you also need a static address so you will be able to hook up 2 or more computers at once <<<< contact your ISP about that, and last you just need a simple 4 port hub so you can split the routers line into 4 lines creating your home network but that wont work unless your get a static IPA.

and spin is one ugly *** kid who has no clue what hes talking about since wireless will decrease your broadband speeds by 17 percent

Buy a router... output from your modem into router, and then outputs (router will have multiple outlets) from router to each of your computers. All you will need is a couple of patch cords (Cat 5 cables) and a router.
