I'm a 22 year old male. I always get thanks sweetie or thanks hun. I'm not 5 years old, so why do I get that from people. Its it normal for girls/ladies to say that now?

it's an endearment. If you doh't like it, say so POLITELY. Take them aside and explain that you feel insulted or demeaned when someone says that to you and you'd prefer a different term, such as Sir or even better, nothing at all. State your case clearly and politely.

Your lucky, people shout a lot of curses my way.

If it offends you simply ask the person respectfully not to continue calling you that.

Don't be afraid to show respect, people respect that.

It's a term of endearment, not a term we apply just to children. If you don't like being treated like a child then don't act like one: don't whine about it, just ask them to stop.

I hear this all the time, and I prefer it to Mam, or Mrs____. It's just a friendly greeting.
