My ex has serious issues and relies on drama and medical problems to survive (the reason we separated.) She has a prescription addiction and loves the medical drama attention. Unfortunately it applies to the children as well and I am scared that they are harvesting the same reliance by her behavior. Her friends even say she has Manchausen disorders and that only creates hostility between them, she sees no error of ways. I hate to waste my kids inheritence with a lengthy custody case. I know, what price can you put on their heads, but is there another way?

Thank you for responding. I have been at this for awhile now. I have looked at every avenue and have had documentation about all that has transpired. I just wished she would see what it is doing to the kids and get help. They need her.

When I started reading your post, the first thing I thought of was Manchausen. This may be a hard case to prove in court, however.

I would consult a lawer. Yes, I think it is more important to help your kids now, when they need help than to worry about a inheritance.

ummm dude that definetly sounds like Manchausen By Proxy.. that can get veryyyyyy serious. Parents have been known to poison their own children to receive medical support, and attention as well as sympathy from the public. It is very important to frequently check up on your children to make sure they are ok... I don't mean to scare you or cause un-needed worry but this is something not widely known by the general public and still exists in our society. Don't worry about the childrens inheritence.. worry about their safety first becuase without them what good is their inheritence. If this applies to the children as you say there is definitely need for concern.

This is so sad. Try and find out of free mediation is a service your County's family court (CA offers 3 hours for all residents). The judge will put everythign on record but no lawyers required. If you are ordered into mediation, state your case, be positive, stay child-focused and request that yo uBOTH attend co-parentng classes. THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT.

Good luck, the "Dad" in my world insists out son is bi-polar, same problem...stay strong, and let your kids know you will protect them and re there for them

There are but they're illegal. Only thing you can do and it won't cost much if you can do it is a custody battle.

growing up my parents made big deal out of every little illness my sister & i had. if we had a cough, they rushed us to dr's. they seemed to thrive on us being ill. needless to say my medical history took 2 complete files. i grew up hating seeing the doctor. now, i only go maybe once a year and that's only after home remedies fail. i try & take care of my kids with home remedies otc medications also, but i know when its time to consult their pediatrician. however, my sister, is just like my parents. she rushes to doctor for runny nose. She thinks every time she vomits(stomach virus) she has to be examined by her doctor. The sad part is my nephew, since birth he's been constantly at doctors , cradle cap turned into dermatitis, he has allergies to everything, asthma, speech problems, and now maybe mildly autistic. you should try to gain custody of your kids. A better life & well being is more important than their inheritance.

if you really think your kids shouldn't be with her then you need to get custody. even though your ex has problems never bad mouth her to the kids. she is still their mother and when older they will know truth for themselves.and they should have visits with her even if they have to be supervised, the court can decide that. and don't worry a lot of men today have custody. good lot

If you can't afford an attorney, you can still go to court and battle it out representing yourself. I would think she is putting her children in serious danger. Manchausen Biproxy disorder has caused the deaths of many children. Act now!

Go to a lawyer to see what your legal responsibilities are. I believe if a parent is found to be incompetent and potentially dangerous to the children, the other parent is awarded custody.
