she (or he, it doesnt have to be a girl!) should know how to operate a computer, all the basic programs (especially microsoft office programs) and know how to type quickly.

should know how to use an office phone, how to transfer lines, put people on hold and whatnot.

should be professional.

should have at least a year of experience.

should know how to file correctly.

should be organized.

should be able to write legibly, if you cant read the application then youll know you wont be able to read anything they write.

make sure they dont have a lot of personal problems, that could interfere with work.

thats all i can think of for now, if i can think of more later ill add.

well, what type of business is it for? I'd make sure she is very familiar with all comp programs you are going to be using and see if she has any experience in the field you're in

Typing filing word processing , he/she should be knowledgeable of your business. How to effectively greet people. How to know which calls are important or not.
