How do I stop my computer from freezing during PCI Service Listing?

Sometimes when i start my computer it comes to the point when it lists all the PCI Services, right before the windows xp logo comes up, and the computer would freeze at the list. It won't load at all so i have to restart and sometimes it goes past the PCI Service Listing and sometimes it doesn't so i have to restart again.

So what could be causing this? When the computer successfully loads, the PCI service Listing screen goes by in a flash and then the windows logo comes up but when the start up fails, the PCI Service listing screens stays on for a long time.

Please Help. What is causing my computer to act this way?

Try getting rid of some of the programs in your start menu..Windows running in the background can cause computer to freeze//Good Luck
