I thought they had gone 4 ever then Maria emerged a classic no thrills pop song or did they stay popular in the states ????????

In the uk they just seemed 2 disapear completely till Maria came out awesome song still a very sexy lady and still rocks !!!!!

Because the band split up for about 20 years.
Deborah Harry had a couple of singles afterwards but until they reformed there WAS no Blondie.Chris Stein was ill for a very long time so he wasn`t making music and the others just faded into the wilderness.
They`d always been popular worldwide it`s just that no new stuff was being made until the album with Maria on it.

They didn't do much for a while, Debbie Harry did some solo stuff and some acting. "Maria" is actually a pretty old song. They came out with a new album a couple years ago called "The Curse of Blondie."
