No. Dont just dismiss it. Think about it. Think about a world where we all have what we want because we all provide for each other, so that we can all achieve what we want. There are no disadvantaged, no lower class, or underclass. There is no huge personal greed for money and power, because we all have more than enough. I know, the concept has some catches - like there will always be greedy people or those who crave to be in control. But I'm conviced we can have a world that will work better than this one and, money does not factor in. Think about it.

I have thought about it, and human natures says no.
Competition is a basic human trait. Greed doesn't revolve around money. "The one with the best toys wins."
It wouldn't work because we are human. It is a good thought though.

Actually the practice of a society without money goes back to the Ancient Spartans. They simply had a society where the basic needs were provided for the families and they paid for these services as either a soldier or craftsman. I would not be surprised to find the practice going back farther than that. If you look at "primitive villiages today that have nothing more complex than a tribal chieftain you see that before they came in contact with modern society and the concept of some things having more value than others they lived in relative prosperity.

You viewpoint resembles communism. No offense but that did not work out too well. So how do you live? In a community home where the government drops off necessities?
Trade was the reason for money to appear, even in ancient times people used money to buy things they did not have. Maybe you are suggesting that we not put a value on anything. How do you distribute things? How can you expect one country or place to have everything?

Money merely exists to make bartering more simple. You can label the use of it in society however you like, but the fact it is makes our lives much simpler.
Consider that you can go to a grocery store and buy the ingredients for just about any meal you can ever think of...now consider trying to do the same where you could only eat what you raise/grow yourself or could trade for. The difference is obvious.
Do we need money, of course not. Would you want to live in a society without it? I sure wouldn't.

What you are describing is what communist want to achieve. It doesn't work and never will.
It isn't fair to pay a doctor who has spent ten years studying for his position the same wage as say the guy who cleans toilets. What would be the point of going to school to be doctors, lawyers, nurses, teacher, and etc if you can achieve the same quality of life as some one who never even tries to better themselves?

I like your concept, especially today because I'm so broke. But you need to be realistic and try to find a way to make then try to find a way that we don't need money. Like you say there will be always same greedy people around who will not let that happen.
Good luck.

You're actually thinking about Communism or Socialism. Unfortunately all attempts at these types of society have failed. I don't believe there is an easy answer to this question.

It is called socialism and they tried it in the USSR for years and it didn't work. I may not be rich or poor, but I will take what I do have and enjoy it. Thanks anyway.
