With all due respect, do you trust the internet in deciding how to write something that will be going on your body? There are many ways that these words can be translated to Japanese with various subtle differences in meaning. If the characters had some special significance to you, I'd say "go for it" whether it meant exactly what you wanted it to or not. But here, it seems the English phrase "strength and courage" holds more meaning to you than these characters. I'd almost suggest having it tattooed in English; maybe in an artistic style that isn't easily read. Or if you're interested in Japanese, then I think you should try learning some of the language - and when you are able to, decide on your OWN how you want to write it. I'm sorry, it's just that, to me, "I'm not sure about this Oriental Outpost site, but I know I can trust Yahoo! Answers" is a difficult viewpoint to grasp! Still, for what it's worth, I can tell that it does say "strength and courage". And if you want, you can get rid of the "と"; that's just the "and", so it isn't a part of either word.

If you have a romanized dictionary, cat is - neko - there are a few online English Japanese dictionaries - go to Google and just type in Japanese/English Dictionary, then you can copy and paste the symbol - by the way it is 'kanji', not symbol.
