alot of 13-19 year olds showing up on yahoo Q & A.
I had quiet wrongly assumed this was an adult convo! Given some of the racey comments and creative answers we are posting. Anyone else disconcerted by this?
( No disrespect meant to the 17-19 year olds!)

my concern is that some girls ( or boys ) might not be posting thier age! or, mea culpa , i midread it coz i skim the question too fast overlooking that they are a young person and i start talking some stupid smack as i often do!!

Even though I'm 15 I even understand that some of the questions are unsuitable for any young adults.

I agree with you, as well. I love kids, but I wish there was some way that they couldn't access this site. No disrespect meant for the "mature" kids, but there are several reasons why they shouldn't be on here:
1) waaaaaaayyyy too much adult subject matter
2) Internet predators abound (older men pretending to be young kid trying to talk to other young kids)
3) too many stupid questions (don't get me wrong, some adults ask dumb questions too) like: do you think Jesse McCartney or Zac Effron (whoever the hell they are) is cute or do you like Britney Spears or some other dumb crap no one else cares about.
4) I have to constantly censor myself because I'm afraid a kid might read it
4) they have websites that cater to young people... this isn't one of them!

I agree with you 100%! I've seen a lot of kids as young as 10 years old asking questions, especially in the areas of sex, puberty, feeling horny, etc. I've responded to a little girl's question last week around 1:00 A.M , in it she stated, "don't tell me I'm too young to be up this late because my mother is right beside me". I've answered her as honest as I could, however, what kind of morals, values, ethics, you name it are parents setting for their children. I'm not saying children should not be around the computer. However, the time of day, the sites they visited and the languages that are displayed should be key factors. These children are exposed to issues and topics way beyond their text book and it really hurts. Parents, if you are here, let's respect a child's question whenever it's been ask and deal with it as how we would respond to our own children. We also need to direct them back to their parents, so these parents can get a sense of control, and can communicate effectively with these kids and let kids know that we parents do support one another as long as they are not being abused and they simply do not want to live by rules! Lets curve the kind of languages we used and at least try to set some kind of example out here.

Yes. Since summer hit here in the U.S and school has been out, the tone has definitely changed. I know young people have every right to be on here, and some ask genuine questions, but a lot of it is silliness. And there are some things on here I wouldn't want my 12 or 13 year old reading about.

Does it matter? I post a question and get a variety of answers. Granted some are stupid but there's always at least one normal one that helps, that is unless I've asked a stupid question! I like having the mixed bag. How crap would it be if you always got the boringly precise bloke writing precise essays and being precisely right, allllll the time? Holy **** I'm turning into him right now. This is turning into a monstrous essay of epic proportions and I'm precisely right.

Yeah, me too. I've even seen sex questions from 12 year olds and under. What troubles me most is Yahoo Questions advocating the use of video cams - now that is really scary.
