Here are some REALLY good, and very inexpensive ways to treat most acne at home. Try each method (unless you’re allergic to the ingredients) until you find one that works best for you. Good luck =) BTW, I know some of these may sound bizarre but try them…what have you got to lose other than the acne!!

1. Put toothpaste on your acne before going to bed. (Make sure it is paste not gel). It should reduce the swelling of acne noticeably.

2. Dab egg whites on your acne and leave on for 20 minutes or overnight. It’s supposed to pull the infection out of the blemish.

3. Wash acne infected areas twice a day with warm salt water. This reduces oils in the skin and helps to dry the acne up without further agitation.

4. Use ice on acne before going to bed. This works best on pimples that have not yet formed a head. It reduces swelling and helps to prevent scarring.

5. Wash and dab acne with cotton balls that have been soaked in vinegar. Let dry; do not wash off immediately.

6. Place strawberries leaves over your acne and the alkalinity will help to reduce the swelling.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Hi , I understand your problem coz. I've had similar problem before but now I am fine with the help of Proactive products. You really have to continue with Proactive solution for at least 3 months twice daily and that's when you start seeing changes in your acnes. You also get Proactive Skin Lightening Lotion which is best for fair skin and exfoliates dark sunburned skin to bring beautiful new skin. Trust me,this lotion has Hydroquinone 2% - a mild skin bleaching agent and other ingredients in it helps stop acnes too. A great product for everything we need but you have to have patience for some months to see the real results, dear. Just stick to it and you will be fine..

well if that is the case, birth control pills. if not that try benzocain 10% that will spot treat acne. if you tried proactive make sure that you use it for more than one month, sometimes you wont see results untill after a month. there are hundreds of these creams working at the pharmacy i work at, and the only one that typically works is benzocain 10%. if none of these work just remember acne wont kill you. if you went to dermatoligest, and prescription didnt give you results because of the sun, dont go out into the sun for too long while you are using it. once that clears it up use daily anti-acne creams, ask your doc. for a different type of anti-staff antibiotic, this will clear it up hopfully. also eat chocolate, it contains anti-bactirials that kill the staph that causes acne (dont worry about is making you gain weight it contains an acid that actually reduces fat [milk chocolate and white chocolate dont count])

good luck!

It's a myth that oral contraceptives make you fat. I was on them for years and I actually lost weight the first year I was on them. And any risk factors can be cut by taking the lower dose ones available today. If it's hormonal, it sounds like this may be your only option, sorry. It's really not so bad, your periods will be lighter and predictable, and you will be decreasing your chances of getting cervical cancer. Really, ask your Dr.

The only thing I can reccomend is low dose birth control. It is not guaranteed to make you fat. Another thing I can say is don't overwash your face or pop your pimples. Change your pillowcase frequently, and use clorox if possible. I'm 19 and I've had nasty acne since I was 12. On my arms, shoulders, back and face. I have used Clean & clean continuous control, and it has hepled tremendouly, used twice a day.
Good Luck!

Give up all sugar, all junk food, drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday(It's alot-but just try for a week)Try apple cider vinegar on your face and drink some.It will help clean the toxins out of your body.Clearasil is the best cheapest stuff you can buy.None of that other stuff works.Wash your face day and night. This will help a great deal.If you can drink distilled water,it's better.Drinking the water will help clean out the bad stuff in your body and give you clear skin.Good Luck!

Acne Scar Solutions

This article provides useful, detailed information about Acne Scar Solutions.

Acne is a common skin infection that affects over 80% of youth and 5% of adults. When acne eventually heals, it leaves ugly blemishes called acne scars. These become permanent if they are not treated in time. Acne scars are damaging to the ego and personality of an individual, and a lot of time and money has been invested in research to treat this problem.

Acne scars are classified by size, shape and appearance they are identified as Icepick, Boxcar and Rolling. They are also tagged as early or permanent on the basis of their duration. Early scars respond well to topical medications. Permanent scars require surgical intervention. Presently, scars are treated with combinations of topical skin care medications in tandem with carefully selected surgical and skin resurfacing procedures.

At least a half dozen surgical procedures are also performed to repair acne scars. Each has benefits and pitfalls and a surgeon will closely examine the patient\'s age, sex, medical history, skin type and type of scarring before agreeing to perform surgery. Cost is also discussed, as it can be quite expensive.

When dermal fillers are used, a surgeon will inject fillers such as collagen and hyaluronic acid derivatives into the skin. This raises the base of the scar to the level of normal skin. The \"punch excision\" procedure is used in

icepick and boxcar type scars and relies on making incisions in the skin with a punch biopsy tool and stitching the skin edges together. The new scar heals, leaving a clear skin. Punch excision with skin graft replacement is a variant of the punch excision method. Instead of suturing the skin after excision, surgeons use a skin graft to repair the scar. Punch elevation is used on deep boxcar scars that have sharp edges and normal appearing bases. Here the base of the scar is excised and elevated to the surface of the skin. Sutures and glue are used to join the edges together. Subcutaneous Incision is used for treating rolling scars and centers on the use of a special beveled needle that is inserted under the skin and used to cut the binding tissue in the scar. The resulting bruises fade after about 1 week. Laser resurfacing is used to burn the top layer of the skin and reduce it to the same level as the base of the scars.

Prevention is always better than cure. Simple precautions such as avoiding strong sunlight, using medications like tretinoin and alpha hydroxyl acids, avoiding picking scabs, regular exercising and dietary control go a long way in preventing acne scars and saving a lot of embarrassment and expenses.

Hi, I have a friend who has had great success with a product called Clear Advantage from Arbonne. She is 30 and has tried everything and nothing worked until this. You can find it at www.wonderful.myarbonne.com to view it in the online catalog. They only ship to the US and Canada though. Good luck to you.

It would help to know how old you are, how long youv'e had this problem, etc.

I don't know how you think you can rule out hormones just because you say that you dont break out during your period. It may be that you have a higher level of testosterone than is normal. If you havent' gotten yoru levels of testosterone checked out, I'd do that next.

(And if you're 12-17 or so, I'd say just to try and wait it out... sometimes it really is just a "phase".)
