in vitro fertilization is NOT your only option. i would suggest that you call an endocronologist for a consult on a tubal reversal. the cost is A GREAT deal less than in vitro. a 4 year old tubal can be undone and you will have a SUPER chance at normal conception. tubal reversal is roughly $5,000.

in vitro fertilization is QUITE a complex ordeal! first they would do a sperm count on hubby. if you don't need a donor you will save a bit of money. some offices will tell you that their success rate on "fresh specimen" is a lessor percentage than a "frozen specimen" either way you will be charged for sperm washing $40 per cycle AND if they freeze some (fertilized eggs & sperm) they will charge you a storage fee ($100-500 depending on the length of time it needs to be stored). now for the complex part. you would be put on clomid AND you would be given an injectable hormone. if your insurance doesn't cover it the cost is roughly $250 per month (every month that they harvest eggs). you will be charged for the removal of said eggs, roughly $2500. then there is a charge for the actual fertilization process, roughly $3,000 (they sort the eggs and sperm and use the healthiest ones) THEN you will be put on a hormone shot that adjusts your progesterone level... prepairing your body for the implant that takes place approx 2-3 days after the eggs were originally removed (in a fresh cycle). the actual surgery with the implant of 2 eggs in a healthy female, or 4 in an unhealthy (fertility wise) female will cost approx. $5,000. they actually "plant" the fertilized eggs into the uterine wall so the chances of them taking are significantly better.

the actual cost of the first implant with "fresh speciman" is approx $13,000. if some fertilized eggs are frozen and saved for future implants the cost could be as little as $5,500. per month.

you should plan with invitro that it can take up to 3 cycles to work... or it could work the first time... or it may never work... most people try until the money runs out.

oh, i forgot to mention... the progesterone shot... you need to take that for the entire first 12 weeks of a pregnancy that resulted in artificial means of conception.

IF i were you i would check on the reversal!

Half the story is incorrect. The Grandmother is in bankruptcy for her own bills and two other houses she owns. The birthing mother is not on government assistance. ALL 14 of the kids are invitro and have the SAME sperm donor. The OLDEST is 7 and the youngest is 2. He is on all 4 of the birth certificates that are available to date (which means he had to sign each one in person at or after each birth). She had the initial procedure years ago and has had the embryos implanted a few at a time, by some doctor, since then. Until now, when she had all of the remaining embryos thawed and implanted at once, just two years after her last birth. She ACTUALLY has a child counseling degree, and is working on a Master's Degree, but does NOT work anywhere and her mom and dad do not give her money for the kids. The kicker is... Someone (unnamed) PAID her to have ALL of these kids! That same Someone PAID for the invitro years ago, the previous births, and possibly each of the repeated thawing sessions. My question is if the sperm donor is a researcher, pharmaceutical developer, fertilization doctor, or crazy man trying to breed his gene pool. She OBVIOUSLY needs psychological evaluation for putting 14 innocent children into this situation, but no foster system is going to take the kids away unless/until she is deemed unfit.

Around $16,000 each time you have it done--you better hope it works the first time, that's all I got to say.
