I got a new charger too. I burnt out the last one so I thought I should do it right this time. Thanks.

24-hours or follow the manufacturers recommendation. O.K. to set things straight. If everything has a computer to it, why not the charger mechanism on computers, cell phones etc. If you charge your unit up at night. Keep doing it. If you charge your computer unit up duing the day, in use, keep doing it.

You might want to check out these faq's if you get a chance. There's a possibility that your laptop will only detect some or even none of the capacity of the new battery (knows as digital memory effect or memory effect). If that's the case, you'll have to cycle your battery before the laptop will detect the true capacity of the new battery. here's the link:

To get the max life out of your Lithium battery you are gonna just want to plug it in for 24 hours with out using your computer just let it sit there pluged in. this is spose to give 6-8 months longer lifespan to your battery.

i too got a toshiba laptop and am facing the same prob.my battery discharges in abt 1 hrs.

The usual time for charging is 8 hours(give or take) Make sure when recharging you have your wires right---black to black-----red to red---!!!!

charge it overnight with the power off!

unplug it when you turn off your laptop

don't charge it 24 hrs
the laptop will be overheated and will turn off
