We've all had fears or insecurities, and I was wondering how some of you have either overcome them or at least worked through them? Thank you.

Yes I'm happy to say I've conquered much of my social phobia yet I still have a long way to go. When I was younger I conquered doing simple things that most people take for granted like talking in public and performing on stage.. things like that. I used to have a fear of water though I really did love the ocean and I decided this was getting too ridiculous and holding me back in the things I wanted to achieve... so I set out and learned how to swim. Anyone can overcome a fear it takes patience and perserverance. And sometimes fear may stick with you for many years though you battle through them everday and don't let them controll your life.

I would like to answer your question here, but it would be too lengthy.... It is a wonderful question though because too many people coward at their fears and let them control their life. Read any books or websites by SARK she has been a light for me along my way.

I had a fear of the ocean...kind of ironic cuz I have always lived on the beach...survived 15 hurricanes...so I had the opportunity to get my diving certification for free...I saw it as an opportunity to get over my fear...so I DID IT I jumped into the ocean...6 foot waves...60 feet deep...I just let go! It was great...

I never got my certification...I could not equalize...i got back into the boat ...tossed my cookies...and thanked God for the courage to try.

You have to realize that in life you play many roles.

Say you are afraid to make the presentation to the PTA. Become the expert at what you will present and present it as the expert.

Play the roles you are given as if you were being nominated for an Oscar, and you will overcome many many fears.

Good Luck

i overcome my fears by explaining to myself why whatever the so threat is is not actually a threat even if it is. explaining to myself why say running into a burning building will not kill me (i am training to be a firefighter), or how the risk will help another. if i cant do it or someone else can't do it i will see it typically as somthing not to do. if a time arises when it is nessisary i can generally work through it by explaining to myself why it is so nessisary. this is how i work through my fears.

To increase my ability to cope with fear, I used to walk through the backstreets of the most dangerous areas in Sydney.

I needed to build up my mental toughness for my job.

I now suffer EXTREME post traumatic stress and very rarely leave the house.

The best way to conquer one's fears is to confront them.

I already had to overcome my worry to stay to tell the tale a existence or demise undertaking. i exchange into camping out with my fiance and it exchange into the day we've been going to go away. I packed up some issues and started the hike to the motor vehicle whilst my fiance finished packing up camp. I heard a noise in the timber and out of the corner of my eye I observed a mountain lion. I iced over, terrified. i attempted to keep in mind what the park ranger had mentioned to do in case you spot a mountain lion. do no longer run exchange into the main mandatory element. i had to run so badly, i exchange into so scared. I figured the lion could in basic terms look at me and go away, as this is oftentimes the case. instead all of it all started shifting nearer. I kicked into survival mode and started waving my arms extreme above my head and screaming and stomping my ft. My fiance heard me screaming and got here working with a super stick. The lion ran away. I definitely have constantly been petrified of animals in the woods, I cringe at each sound in the timber. That day although I in basic terms kicked into survival mode.
