what can i get to protect the leather on my high heels to keep from scraping the leather?

I would like to protect my leather high heels from scraping when I accidently step in cracks in the street. Can anyone make a suggestion

I HAD THE SHOE REPAIR STORE PLACE STRIP OF THIN METAL ON THE HEEL OF MY HIGH HEELS . ALSO I WORE TENNIS SHOES WHILE WALKING THEN WORE THE HEELS WHEN I CAME IN
