If is from Western Union call: 1-800-999-9660 Press 1 then 1 again to trace it or 2 for refund request.
If it was a Travelers Express then call: 1-800-542-3590 Press 1 then press 1 again to learn what to do if your money order was stolen or press 2 to learn the status of your money order, or press 0 to speak to a representative.
If this was a USPS money order the process is more difficult that the first two. You need to bring the stud portion to the nearest postal office and file a form for investigation. Their investigation start 30-days after the money order was reported missing or stolen.

You can take it back to where you got it, show them the reciept. They can give you a number to call. They will probably try to trace it. Make sure no one else tries to use it. Give you a waiting period like 30 days or something (maybe not that long) then refund your money. Just hang on to that reciept. Id even make a copy of it. But you can get your money back.

Call the 1800 number attached to your reciept and ask them to see if it had been cashed. If it had not file for lost or stolen mo
they will charge you a little fee but as long as you have proof of purchase they will give you another.
Personal expereince is my source

I don't know exactly, but would assume you could go back to the original place of purchase with your documentation, have them fill out a "lost/misplaced" MO form; may have to pay a fee, probably have to wait up to a year to find out, and if someone used it/cashed it, you may have to start criminal proceedings; but you may be able to make a claim against the place that "cashed" the stolen MO; sue for all you're out including court costs and fees that were required to process the report...is it worth $50.00 bucks, though...I'd just "bag it"! Also, if you had it made out to CASH instead of your name, it'll probably be hard to prove that you didn't give it to someone for payment for something unless the crook owned up to it...sorry man.

I believe with a money order you are S.O.L. Try calling the place you got it from, but they don't know if you used it already, so you are probably screwed...Sorry to say=(

You can go to the store where you purchased it with the stub and they can track it to see if it had been cashed. They can also cancel it.
