Calling gay people 'flamboyant' is the same as calling straight people 'stuck up' In some cases it's true, but in the majority of cases not. As for the term homo it actually means man - so as a word in itself it is not particularly derogatory. However it's a question of the context in which it is said.

Are you just trying to get more answers by being rude or are you just a jerk? I don't think it should matter whether or not you call someone flamboyant as its a description not a hurtful racial slur. That word has (N-Word) has a lot of pain and degradation behind it, flamboyant is just that a word which to the best of my knowledge doesn't carry much connotation to one specific group of people.
Not only that but how dare you insult my intellegence by spelling that word in the vernacular so as to not think you are being offensive. For shame... shame indeed.
"homegirl" Oh, I do hope that was not directed at me. You dont know me well enough to even know if I like to be called that, how about calling other members by their nicknames? Did that occur to you "dude", I'm sure it would be "awesome".

i would not have a problem with being flambouyant, but i know that i am, but i am sure that there are people out there who would have a problem with it! Now if some random person walked up to me and called me a homo we would have words! and they would not be nice ones! Now within my group of friends as long as it was said in a joking manner i would be ok with it-outside of that i would have a serious problem with it!

No, not many gay people get offended, if you use the word homo then we may get offended, but flambouyant just makes us more proud of who we are and the word just describes how unique we are.

if you called me flamboyant, i wouldn't get offended, although I don't really think i am flamboyant.
you call me a "homo"...well, that would be derogatory (same as saying the "n" word) and you would deserve a slap in the face or at least an angry response. I'm guessing you must use both terms....been slapped yet?

calling someone flamboyant isnt really something they will get offended on. What we get offended on is the fact that people often think you have to be flamboyant if your are gay.
answer to your second question....yes its pretty much the same.

I personally would be offended with it, but that's because I'm "normal". Well I'm a nerd but I'm still not flamboyant, haha, but it doesn't sound like a nice thing to say.

I've been called worse. If you are my friend (gay or straight) and you call me "flamboyant" I would not be offended.
