I have no objection to a moment of silence. It may help students to be calm at the beginning of the day. On the other hand, it may just be asking for trouble. Students who want to get attention would find it pretty easy to do so by disrupting a moment of silence. It seems to me that people who want to pray can do it before or after school... or even find a quiet space and time during school, but prayer shouldn't be forced on the whole school population. Nobody should be stopped from praying at appropriate times. I mean, people shouldn't be praying in the middle of a class... If they waited until lunch, I'm sure God would understand.

A moment of silence could be useful at the end of class, right before the bell rings...to calm the little buggers down!
School is not about religion, so NO to prayers in school! If a child wishes to do so, s/he may do so quietly. No need to make a big production out of it...unless you're just looking for attention!
If you want to hear prayers in school, then go to Sunday School.

I would have no problem with a moment of silence.
But I doubt that a moment of prayer could be done properly.
When they had prayer in schools they had seperate schools

No, no need to bring in any type of religion into school, if you want some silence go to the bathroom or something

I am ok with a moment of silence, but no not prayer. separation of church and state!
