Recent scientific studies into deja vu have identified an area of the brain that responds to familiar things.
Deja vu appears to occur when this area of the brain responds incorrectly to stimuli.
I will try to locate details of the study and add them to this answer.

Deja Vu is the sensation that you have seen, been, done, spoken things already. Some people claim it has something to do with the blood reaching the brain. Others might say it has to do with past lives, and reliving similar situations in present time, that gives you the feeling that you have done something before. It is a very weird feeling, that is for sure.

According to Einstein theory, if you can travel instantly to another planet far away from Earth and you look with a telescope back to Earth, you will receive images that happend to Earth many years before than what will be happening that moment. That is happening because what you see with your eyes as reality is nothing else than just the decoding of the reflections of the light using our eyes. So now that hard core!!! The history of our planet happend before much time, and is happening again and again, until we succeed to correct it and to reach higher levels and maybe perfection. Example: The first time that our history happend, we built civilizations, and we destroyed everything with an amazing World War. So, we repeat the same history again and again changing it and trying to guide it to a better end, the best would be without a World war. The same about ou personal lives. Example: when we have to face a situation, for example we see 1 of our friends to fight with another man, and we have to decide what to do, and we decide to go and beat the other man also, after when all that will be ended, if we regret it, when the same history will be repeated instantly, we will not beat that man but we will just separate them or we will do nothing. But if we will not regret it, we will propable kill him. That is happening because is the reason we exist, to create alternative ends having as a target to create the best alternative end until that to become the end. So Deja-vu is when we remember some details of a scene we have seen for million times. it is like you see a movie, you don´t like the end and you test alternative ends, after some time you will start remembering and feeling strange.
I want to add something last, there is no time, at least not as we meassuer it with watches. time has dimensions is not a line. And in all what we call life, we are in time at the same point always creating images with alternative end sending them to travel to space. So all our life is happening the same moment, of course we don´t understand it, but at least we can learn it and experiment with it.

Deja-Vu is french for has been seen before.
and it's when you have the feeling that you saw that situation before.
I read before that this happens because when you see whatever you saw with both eyes the blood is sometimes late in reaching your left side so your right side saw it before while your left side just saw it and it all takes few seconds.

The best answer to this was in the film 'The Matrix' when they put it down to a glitch in the computer program within which we all exist.
But in reality, it's just some loose nerve connections in the brain making you think something is familar when it isn't. I don't think it has anything to do with psychic dreams or past lives, I think we will discover a more mundane physical, electrical short-circuiting reason.

yes its a feeling that you have done something before or been somewhere before even though you cant remember being there or doing it
