Size is the main difference.
But genetics ahs something to do with it also.
14.0 hands or under is a pony
14.1 or over is a horse.

a horse is a member of the equine family that is 14.3 hands or over, a hand equals 4 inches and the animal is measures from the ground to the top point of his shoulder blades. A pony is a member of the equine family that is 14.2 and under. some horse breeds have ponies in them. ponies are malicious little bast***s that can be really really mean or they can be really really sweet. It seems liek there is no happy medium with them.

Horses are a great amount larger, they can carry more weight, they eat more, they poop more, they take up more room, they drink more, and they cost more than ponies do!
The differences is anywhere from $1000 to $5000 cash not counting the extra expenses for taking care of them!
