I enjoyed it immensely. It wasn't flashy or overdone; it made you feel like you were back in the old west and the sense of realism about it was incredible (for example, gunfights do not last more than a couple minutes in real life).
Val Kilmer should have gotten the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor with his portrayal of Doc Holliday.
It was, in my opinion, the best modern western movie made (modern meaning after 1980), edging out Unforgiven.
