You can do this several ways:
Get high speed cable (perhaps your cable tv provider has an internet service)
Get internet via satellite dish
Get internet with a CDMA card that goes into your laptop and you get the internet wirelessly - Sprint and Verizon offer this broadband service(depending on your geographic area)

you need phone service to get internet over the phone line. Cable you can get as a stand alone net service.

yes, with "Clear Wire" form Intel...Wi-Fi-Max I just got it 3 weeks ago in my City and its only 25 dollars...cheaper than Time-Warner RR..I even can use my VoIP phone with it!! if U need more info got to my favorite forum www.dslreports.com and check out the setup
