No, there's no reason to put the kibosh on all fish. Loaded with protein, vitamin D, and omega-3 fatty acids, fish and shellfish are an important part of a healthy diet. But you're right to be cautious. Nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of methylmercury — a compound known to be harmful in high doses to an unborn baby's or young child's developing nervous system.

Only certain types of fish because of the mercury like don't eat anything blue like snapper, and be careful with tuna, I was instructed to eat tuna only in water not oil and only once a week at the most your doctor should have given you a pamphlet with an exact list of fish you can and can't have I'd ask him if he hasn't because my doc did. Good Luck

Actually, you can eat pretty much anything you want in moderation. The DHA in fish would be good for brain development for your baby.
You should NOT eat:
Shark
Swordfish
King mackerel
Tilefish
because of the potential mercury content.
The FDA says that it's OK for you to eat fish, but recommends that you not eat more than 12 oz per week of cooked fish.

Only fish with a lot of mercury in it. Tuna fish doesn't. You need to research all the fish that has mercury and all the fish that doesn't before you eat any.

It isn't necessarily all fish you have to avoid. Just fish that is high in mercury content, like tuna. You can eat it in moderation, but it is not a good idea to consume a lot of it.

there is an issue with CERTAIN fish. Your doctor will have a list of the ones that you need to stay away from, but it is very importnatn that you truly do. I would put a call in to your doc or stay away from all fish until you can reach him. Just to be safe
