How do I stop unwanted junk email? My spam guard is on, and I hit delete & spam, over & over, but to no avail? Is there some steps I can take to additionally block out junk once I've hit spam?

When you list your email address with different companies online, at forum boards, etc, it gets snagged, and used for spam. Because the spammers just use new email addresses, once it starts, it's virtually impossible to stop.

I'd recommend getting a new email address, and using it ONLY for the purpose of friends/family emails. Don't use it to sign up at any webgroups, or newsletters, or contests, or anything. That email address will remain fairly "clean".

You can have yahoo block an address that you've listed as spam, if you are using yahoo. Look under your settings.

There really is nothing you can do, aside from being very careful where you give out your email. Creating more than one email address is a good idea. Use one of them for personal email, and the other for anything you think might result in getting more spam.

A quick note about subscribe links at the bottom of some spam emails: don't trust them. They might be legitimate for some sites, but many of them only use the unsubscribe links to determine if an email address is still active (meaning, when you choose to unsubscribe, they'll know someone is actively using that email address) so they can send you more spam.

I was too. My brother told me to get a program that also handles spam. I got McAfee. I'm sure there are others that are fine. Now it goes to a spam box, and anything I call junk mail also ends up there. You can even pick topics or certain words that you don't want, and, it will screen for that.

There are different email providers that have better spam blockers. Yahoo is usually good. There should be links at the bottom of spam emails to unsubscribe
