For the most part British history books say much the same as American ones about the actual events of the American Revolution.
One theory I read recently asserted that if the British had held the Colonies they would have not gone on to develop an Empire in places like India etc., as they would have had to use resources developing continental N. America.
One aspect of the Revolution that has always fascinated me is what happened to Loyalists after the Revolution. I know some went to Canada and some back to the UK.
Try bbc.co.uk website for British history and follow the links. Good luck.

most brits agree that it was more interested in india than the usa thats why there were so few soldiers in comparison to americans, the one thing that was not going to happen was the take over of canada which history shows that even when the american attacked they could not take over canada as most of the people were loyalests and were of greater numbers, hundreds of thousands of americans fled to canada for safety including blacks as the americans were murdering people who did not se things their way,and dont believe to many of those stories you read about how americans were the good guys and the brits were the baddies as they does some pretty horrendous things to people who were against them, most people believe that the whole of america was against the brits but that was untrue ,a few very rich people were the main agressors as they had the most to lose so they stirred up people to rebel, they new it was only a matter of time before slavery would be abolished and that the british planned to give back vast areas of land to the natives as it was stolen from them,so these rich ones were instigators and the average joe followed them blindly ,after the revolution the average person had galned nothing but a piece of paper that consisted of what they already had but this gave more power to the rich as they were the ones who had all the power, and in many ways they were worse off,if you look at the difference between canada and the usa canada has a better social concience as in the health system pesions unemployment benefits and so on,

I was in the Air Force stationed in England for 4 years and my son went to Brit school.
First of all, American History in England is like one week out of the year. It's not like a total field of study, all year long. Second, their books say that the Americans wanted freedom to run their own affairs. When we talk about the Boston Massacre, the Stamp Act, the Intolerable Acts, as punishing the colonists, they talk they these were strategies to bring the colonist back in line with obeying the king.
Another thing I found is that is a weird sort of way, they take a little credit for our success in government and economics. After all, they say, we got our ideas from them.

One time my parents went to England. They were in a pub, and my mom commented on how wonderful the tea was. She asked why we never got anything this good at home. The waitress replied, "because the last time we sent it, you dumped it in the harbor!"

i, as a Briton, admire the American revolution.
because without it, there would be no preposterous and historically incorrect movies based on how violent the Brits were to the yanks in the war.
without it, we wouldn't see how stupid and gullible the yanks really are.
