Good question. It shouldn't matter about our materialistic things, like having the most expensive, luxurious homes and cars, etc. It shouldn't matter what religion, race, etc. If someone is a good person, that's all that should matter. You're right, our time on this planet is like a spec of time, compared to how old the universe as a whole is. So it is a shame that there is all this hatred among various groups of people.

Read William Golding's "Lord of the Flies". It is part of the standard reading list for most high schools. The book was made into a movie back in the 90s. The novel describes what happens to innocent young people if left unchecked without adult influences. Essentially the children resort back to the primal instincts. Competition for leadership, dominance, and resources lead the children to become savages and animals. That is why it is dangerous to let children go undisciplined. And as we see in the current wars, adults are no better. It is up to the younger generations to mend the mistakes of present generation.

That would be ideal but humans in general are prone to hurting other people...whether it be through hurting their feelings or hurting each other physically. Not everyone, but a lot of people just like to feel like they are stronger, mightier, etc...
Isn't that way people that are so kind like mother theresa are looked as like saints? Because goodness like that is hard to come by...which doesn't make sense in that your right...we only live a short while...WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?! :o) My two cents.

first, money is good, and love of money is therefore also good

BUT

love of other people's money is the root of all evils

ie, love of getting overpaid, love of getting money without earning it yourself, love of getting out more than you put in to the social pool of wealth by creating wealth by making goods and services

[we had to pool goods when we started specialising in jobs - pooling so we could all take out the variety of things we need and want, although each of us makes only one specialised thing]

having a pool of goods made possible the taking out more than you put in - overpay, theft - which means underpay for others - which means resentment, which means violence [war and crime, which are everyone trying to get more, and to get a fairshare, ie, to keep or recover stolen wealth]

what would everyone get if no one had ever taken out more than they put in? - everyone in the world including homemakers and tertiary students would be on US$15 an hour - every family working average hard would be getting US$75,000 a year - ie, every family working average hard is making US$75,000 worth of goods and services

unfortunately once a person has got out more than they put in, they, with that extra, have more power to take out even more - so it just goes on and on - the overpaid doing less and less per dollar got, and the underpaid doing more and more per dollar got

so, now, after 1000s of years of this, pay for a fortnight's work ranges by a factor of one billion: from $1 to $1 billion - from a 1000th to a million times the average of US$15 an hour [2006AD, doubling every 12 years or so]

hence, extreme violence - 1% take/rake [not make]over 90% of world earnings - US$70 TRILLION A YEAR - and obviously dont do 90% of the work

hence injustice - hence the human world in galloping violence, racing to extinction [soon, unless we wake up and do what has to be done]

the most a person can MAKE [not just rake and take] is US$2 million - 50 hours x 50 weeks x 50 years x US$15 an hour, minus a lifetime's minimum spending, is well under US$2 million [2006AD, doubling every 12 years or so with global inflation of 6%]

all we have to do is limit fortunes to US$2 million and spread the overfortunes around equally among all people [everyone to open accounts, one account per person to receive the overfortune money, of course]

this will automatically prevent all tricks past present and future to rake and take not make money - will illegalise the love of overpay which is the root of virtually all our problems, from extinction-soon, escalating violence, and on down through the millions of problems caused by super extreme theft [injustice, raking and taking] - disease, crime, unsafety, anxiety, tyranny, fascism [=insane superlove of overpay], sexslavery, waterborne diseases, starvation, poverty, illiteracy, corruption, oppression, abuse of human rights, torture, genocide, uneducation, bullets and bombs and 9/11s, etc etc etc etc etc

since 99% are underpaid, 99% will be keen to have this change towards justice - so it wont be hard to get a huge majority for it - and where there is a huge majority for something, there is no opposition

in fact, 100% benefit enormously, and 99+% are sane enough to understand this, so it is only a problem of spreading the word

and if everyone tells just two people, every adult in the world will hear of it in just 31 times the time to tell two people [2,4,8,16,32...1024 in ten steps, 1,000,000 in 20 steps, 1,000,000,000 in 30 steps...etc]

and i have given you the basic idea in a few lines! -

and you can confirm to yourself that this indeed conforms to your own common sense by further study at www.globalhappiness.org [not an org] - that it is FREE, capitalist, no danger, selfinterest, no sacrifice, easy, private property, free market [true free market], requiring small change in societies, no organisation, no leader [except you learning and teaching two], no blind believing, no nonsense, no partisanship, no opposition, individualist, democratic, the original american dream of a land of the free, conforms with all wisdom teaching and all history's lessons

overpay is bad for the overpaid [the takers and rakers]: the benefit is very small, why? because fairpay [US$75,000 for working av. hard] satisfies virtually all needs and wants, and on the other side, danger to the overpaid is proportional to the amount of overpay

[or, maybe, proportional to overpay squared or cubed, because the more overpay, the more underpay there is, and also because the more overpaid, the more you stick out from the crowd - eg, ceausescu, shot despite secret police of a nation protecting him, eg, french plutocracy in the french revolution, guillotined despite having most money and power]

therefore the net benefit to the overpaid is very negative - like someone who steals everyone's wallet/pocketbook has to run and hide and loses all goodwill - plus, the endless security costs must eventually exhaust the plunder, eg, every empire: plundered and got plundered - america and the rest of first world today, huge defense cost after plundering the world for centuries, crippling the nation - the plunder from the third world is down to $200 billion a year [net income, interest repayments minus loans], which is not enough to pay the defense costs when the rest of the world is nearly all plundered out: 90% of incomes between 10th and 1000th of average

and the trilateral commission is talking of reducing the world population to 2 billion! - [ie, murdering 4 billion] - who will do the work then?

99+% of people dont want to kill anyone, 99+% of people are happy to be paid what they make [US$15 an hour incl. homemakers and students] [students are making educated people - and so are homemakers, among many other things] -

but the 99+% are foolish enough not to hear the founding fathers' fundamental message, and have done nothing effective to prevent 'concentration of wealth' [=injustice, theft of US$70 trillion a year, with consequent giant violence - endless, escalating violence]

when all they have to do is limit fortunes to the maximum that a person can put in to the social pool of wealth by work [US$2 million] and spread the overfortunes around equally - hence justice, hence peace, hence survival and 100fold happiness

proof that happiness with illegalising overpay [theft, injustice, violence, extinction] is 100-fold: everyone will readily agree that everyone in the world will readily agree that happiness will be diminished at least 100-fold if a govt takes/rakes 90% of income permanently off 90% of people and gives it to 1%

and that is only 91000% injustice

and we have 100,000,000,000% [hundred billion percent] injustice [ ie, unequal pay for equal work is from US$1 billion to US$1 a fortnight, from a million times average to 1000th of average]

uncontrolled overpay, and consequent violence, have been growing for 1000s of years

the violence is not caused by human nature, because human nature without inequality only caused fists and stones conflict

the violence is caused by the uncontrolled theft/injustice, as you can see by the fact that injustice and violence have grown up together

it IS human nature in that humans have failed to illegalise unlimited fortunes, which is unlimited theft, because a person's work is limited [to 50x50x50 hours] - is unlimited theft,

because no one can work more than twice as hard as the average person, is unlimited theft [=violence]

because the average person works at least 50 hours a week [homemakers, who are half the adult population, work 70-90 hours a week] - yet we allow up to a million times average pay PER HOUR - is unlimited theft,

because no one [imo] can work more than about 10% harder than the average per unit of time - ie, bill gates doesnt work harder per hour than many other CEOs, or most other workers - his income has nothing to do with zipping round the office a million times faster - his income has to do with scarcity of new technology: demand is very high, supply is initially low, plus monopoly by patent, and other things

we are on the brink of extinction, and we are on the brink of 100-fold happiness - and only the combined will of everyone can save us - fortunately everyone already agrees that illegalising 'the root of all evil' will work

the bible says we must lower the proud [the ones who stand out, the overpaid, the 1%] and raise the humble [the enslaved, the wageslaves, the disempowered, the 99%] - we have been doing the reverse for 1000s of year

the bible says we should not pay people for not working - we have been overpaying without limit for 1000s of years

[paying people for not working amounts to stealing work, forcing other people to work without getting paid, because ultimately money represents work - money buys the products of work - a billionaire cant make a $10 million house in an hour, but we give him one every hour [that is gates's peak income [increase of fortune] - his average is $500,000 an hour every hour of his 100,000 hour working life - [it took an awful lot of bullshits over centuries to convince the people to do this crazy thing! - he is your equal, people - he doesnt give any more of himself at work than you do - no one can]
