I think I know the answer to this question, though. People are frightened by radical differences. I'm just curious what others have to say.

I think it goes deeper than just being socially unacceptable.
I think because deep down we known homosexual couples can not produce offspring, thus putting a hault to the growth of human population. In the wild, we dont see animals going with the same sex partner to try and procreate? So I think it has alot to do with our instictual behaviour as living creatures.
At least that explaination makes more sense to me then the majority of everyone elses.

Homosexuality is considered a sin, because in the bible it is. Atleast in the Christian religion. I am a Christian, I believe homosexuality is a sin. However this doesn't mean I don't have great friends who are homosexual, or that they are bad people. Also, I guess to some, who aren't religious but who are still 'against' homosexuality, its true that they are frightened by the radical differences.

We learned it from the Old Testament, if not from earlier writings. Remember Sodom and Gomorrha? On the other hand, both the Old and the New Testaments are the work of men. How much they were really inspired by God is open to question. Maybe they just regarded homosexuality as so odd that it must be sinful. About the only thing we know for sure is that it causes a lot of sickness and death. I don't think God did that to be mean.

The reason people think homosexuality is a sin is because it is just that a sin in the eyes of the Lord above. He created man to be with woman and not for a woman to lie with a woman or a man to lie with another man. He created a man to lie with a woman in the sanctity of marriage. Anybody that believes that homosexuality is right is commiting a sin in their heart. It is not right. The world is so cruel these days that congress has just passed a law saying it is right but that it is not right.

Yes, you are right, it does come down to fear. For that same reason people used to think that it was inappropriate for couples from different races to marry, or for people of color to use the same toilet or water fountain, or for the "heathen savages" of our native lands to not be treated like a soulless animals and allowed to live in their own traditions...The list of mistreatment's amongst human beings is unfortunately quite long, and people do not learn from or draw correlations between past mistakes. It is so sad.

I am a Christian, but there are too many Christians who do not practice the love that Jesus taught us. Also, they do not look at the Bible in light of the times that it was written. The anti-homosexual scriptures were written at a time when due to wars and famines, populations were dwindling. The passages refer to the fact that men should not waste time with men, but repopulate to increase the population.

People need to open their hearts and minds, use religion for good and not to defend their hate, and live and let live. We will all be judged some day by the One and Only Judge. It is not our job.

Because it like many other sexual relationships, and many other activities are listed as sin in the bible.

so it is a sin because the bible says it is.

People are not fightened by it, sickened or disgusted perhaps, but not frightened.

What I can't understand is why they don't want to just go ahead and admit it is a sin, and go on. People who live together even joke they are "living in sin" they know they are, but go ahead anyway, people who cheat on thier wives or husband, know they are sinning and admit it is against the bible.

So why won't the homosexual just admit it, and say they don't care and they want to live in thier relationship anyway,
But for some reason they wish to try and make people believe it is not a sin

Well, there are rational reasons for it.

Romans 1:27 condemns homosexuality. In it, it was said:
"Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error."

Now, I do not hate gay people at all nor do I look down upon them. I am, however, against gay marriage but, alas, I digress. Just wanted to point out a verse from the Bible.

They consider it a sin because it is written in the bible not to "lie with another man as you would your wife", or basically, don't have sex with a member of the same sex.

Personally though, I don't think it's anyone's business who you sleep with. God judges you when you die. If you committed a sin, you go to hell. I don't know why the mortals think they must judge and change - let The Man take care of things.

Peace.

Maybe not a sin but let's put it this way:
1 man + 1 woman = 1 or more children
1 man + 1 man = ?
1 woman + 1 woman = ?

I don't know if you believe in the bible or not, I'm not even sure I do myself but it does condemn homosexuality. Who really knows.

Why would we be "frightened" by that? It is not all that scary really. It a sin because God made a man and a woman to love each other. Not a man and a man. How is that judging kc_brig?
