File for divorce in the county/state where you were married. If you know where he is, provide that information to the courts so that he may be served. If you don't know where he is, they will place a notice in the public newspaper informing you have filed for divorce. If he fails to respond, you're home free.

I idont know how things work in California, but in Texas file for a divorce. Since there is no place to contact him, there is a order put in the newspaper, like a ad. they put it for a couple of weeks and if he does not return or show up to the court date sentenced you are automatically divorced. That's what i've heard. You dont need for him to sign anything. NOT ANYMORE!!!! But find out first and talk to a lawyer.

Hi, I don't know about Cali, But I live in KY and my mom just went through that but they didn't have any kids together....Her lawyer filed the papers and sent it to his last known address..It came back of course and the lawyer used it to show the judge that he tried to get a hold of him..So anyway the judge granted her the divorce.

I would call an attorney or go to the court house and speak to someone there in your county and ask what the necessary steps are to file. Good Luck!
